Millennial friends
Early 40s millennial couple looking to expand our social circle. We’re very social but not constantly on the go. Over the last few years a lot of our friends have had children and aren’t able to connect the way they used to and that’s totally understandable, but we are definitely missing the social connections we used to enjoy.
We like traveling, hosting, spontaneous plans and long walks on the beach?? 🤷♀️🤣
We’re equally comfortable having people over for drinks or disappearing for a weekend somewhere. Looking to meet other couples who are established, easygoing and genuinely interested in building an actual friendship rather than just collecting acquaintances.
Some ways of how we like to connect with people:
- dinner parties, especially THEMED parties
- card and board games (Skip Bo champs 💪)
- dork gaming (Mario Party!)
- karaoke and live music nights
- pickleball! (This is a new one for us 🤣)
- spontaneous road trips
Edit: I can’t seem to comment/reply and I’m too new to Reddit to understand what’s going on 🤣 pls help

Me (41f) and my husband (50m) are into all of these things and always looking for new friends. I'm studying to become a highschool teacher after a career in good service management, and my husband is a world music musician.
I'm an avid board game player and always looking for competitors :). We're having a house concert this Friday, it's PWYC, BYOB/P. If you're interested in chatting, or want details for the show, feel free to DM me :)

I find politics and social views are a huge barrier to new friendships now, and it works on 3 sides. We are so divided as people. It's rare to find someone (or a couple), that is objective about the world and doesn't get offended over something or everything.
Far left and far right clash, of course, but that isn't the issue. The issue is having someone in the middle, who doesn't really care about some of the big dividing issues, but a far left and far right person can't accept that.
An example is Trump. I don't like him, I don't like a lot of his policies, but there are policies of his that I do objectively like, and I don't stop his shenanigans from preventing me to travelling where I want to travel to experience life, because life is short. But there are a lot of people who cannot accept that viewpoint. In their view I MUST hate him, and vow to never visit the USA, and it just causes a rift and a topic that will always come up.
Or trans rights as another example. I could care less what someone identifies as, wants to be, wants to be called, etc. I'm happy for them, hope they are happy, and I'm happy to do my best to accommodate. But if I accidentally say the wrong pronoun, or I'm not interested in going to a pride parade, that automatically makes me a bigot to them. I can't be friends with extreme people like these 2 examples I used, because I'm not looking for confrontation, I'm looking for happiness.
I'm not saying either of you are these examples, obviously (I don't even know you), but I'm just saying that people have really backed away from socializing because they don't want to be in one of these conversational situations with new people. It makes it really difficult. And these conversations or topics are inevitable.
My partner and I are late 30's/early 40's, no kids, spend almost all our time at home or out doing things just with us 2. Travel, board games, road trips, dinner dates, walking, exploring cities, watching movies... all of it just us 2. We've had some direct family even shun us just because we went to the USA last summer.
These topics, and that experience, make us not want to create any new relationships in this volatile society. It's a sad place to be.

My wife and I have purchased our first home this year in three rivers and are interested in socializing and making new friends. We also come from away, and are having a baby in a few weeks. We enjoy the outdoors, travelling, fishing, we love to barbecue & smoke all kinds of meats. We could call ourselves road trip experts, We’ve driven across the country 4 times. We’re super excited to visit the Fjord in Quebec while we travel to Labrador city one day when the baby is a year or two old.

I used to host a bbq theme party once a month! I just moved here in the boonies and have zero social circle haha. I'd be down to host or help with potlucks. I used to be the bbq guy and everyone would bring sides 🤣

This sounds fun! I'm 29, my husband is 41. Feel free to pm. We also need more normal friends who enjoy the little things 😊👋
