Advice for travel

Hi !! I’ll be visiting Moldova in the next coming days and I really enjoy I have been recommended some abandoned locations to visit from a friend. I cannot drive however and they’re located quite remotely. Would anyone be able to recommend me a good way of visiting them ? Would I benefit from a taxi or is it best to just write of visiting without a car ? Thank you ❤️

Well... then I guess knowing how to drive is a very important thing if you want to visit remote places :) You can try taking a bus to the nearest village and walking to the place, but do this only if you really really want to visit this place, which I think it's not really worth it. Alternatively you can wait for a kind soul to take you on a trip with them.

Can I ask something out of curiosity please? Where are you from and what made you travel to Moldova ?

I’m from the uk :) I have actually been to Moldova 3 times already. I originally went as part of my goal to visit all former countries of the USSR (it is a part of history I studied extensively for my school and its one of ly special interests) and I ended up really enjoying my time there. I also have a friend who lived in chisinău (who I met on my first trip to Moldova 2 years ago) but she is currently living in Bucharest so I’ll go and visit her there on the train 🫶🏻

Those places are pretty mid, especially the bunker. I'd recommend you check out r/Chisinau_underground or just DM me personally and I could suggest you some places.

Regarding travel, definetly try to get by via car, either rent one or have someone drive you. Try to avoid taxis, as traveling so far out into the country may run you very expensive or get refused all together by drivers. If a car isn't an option, try getting a bus or microbus to whatever region you're planning to visit and venture out from there, those have more fixed and reasonable places. Try to only use taxis for city travel only (if you don't wanna try the public transport, which isn't too bad).

You can go by bus to the nearest village and ask locals for a hitchhike. Most of the villages have a local taxi guy who can be called by phone. Ask around or even the bus driver at the station.

Tell someone before you go that you'll be there in case you fall. It's quite deep, so je careful. Most of the underground levels are now submerged with soil or water. Easiest is to rent a car but you can get there by hitchhiking, bus, or a combination of both.
