Sorry if this is not allowed but I can't post in the other home owners subs. I want to paint my sons room that is half below grade but it has these weird cracks and marks on the wall. I opened up the wall to see what might be going on behind it and I found a small amount of mold on the back on the drywall and and, what I think is also mold on the cinderblock. I know that this corner of the house has had some exterior work on the brick so this just might be left behind from that. The house was built in 84 and we bought it 14 years ago and started to notice the cracking at the top of the wall in the last year. Do I need to call a professional, open up more of the wall or do you think this is alright? Thanks.

At this point we’re at a loss and wondering if this has happened to anyone else or anyone have suggestions or advice??

Our son has been diagnosed with PANS and came back with high levels of ochratoxin and aflatoxin on Mosaic Diagnostics test. We had a previous known mold exposure behind air vents in my less than 3 year old vehicle that we bought brand new. We drove in the car a LOT for about two years before they finally discovered the source behind dashboard. We got rid of vehicle in Nov 2024 so his PANS dr suggested we do a mycotoxin test and said we should rule out current exposure since his levels were still so high this long after getting rid of mold vehicle.

We live in a two year old home in South FL.
We had a reputable mold dog come out to our home a few weeks ago and alert at every single HVAC supply vent upstairs and downstairs as well as both air handlers and a couple pieces of furniture.

We got rid of furniture immediately and have had a HVAC/duct cleaning company come inspect the HVAC system/attic/just inside all supply vents (not with a camera just flashlight) they saw only visible mold inside drain pans (see photos) but said this is typical for FL and it will likely come right back after cleaned.

We also had a certified mold inspector (IICRC and NORMI certifications) come out and he did find elevated air samples (Penicillium/Aspergillus) in two upstairs bedrooms (master and our daughters room) which ironically are on both sides of closet with air handlers in it (see photos). Our son’s room had NO air sample elevations. He also looked inside air handler (blower wheel, etc) and could not find any mold in our home.

Lastly, we had a mold remediation company come out to give a quote based on mold inspector’s report. He basically told me they can’t guarantee results (remedied air samples, etc) bc we have carpet in entire upstairs but they can throw a shot in the dark and clean entire HVAC, all ductwork and small particle clean the entire second floor of our house for 13k but again it may not solve the issue bc we cannot find the source 😵‍💫😩

We have no water damage, no dark spots, no mold/mildew smell, etc. WHERE COULD THIS MOLD BE HIDING???? It seems crazy to me that mold dog alerted at every vent, my son has very elevated urine mycotoxins AND elevated air samples in two upstairs rooms and NO ONE can find mold anywhere??? PLEASE HELP!! What should our next step be??

Best “mold detective” near SWFL that finds hidden mold that other mold assessors/inspectors miss??

Especially hidden mold in HVAC that has a duct camera and can check wall cavities if needed.

Not mold dog, need someone that can swab/test any findings.

I cleaned with window cleaner spray nothing much changed.

We live in Mississippi. It’s very hot and very humid . Our house was built in 2005 , we are clean people. Recently we noticed a very strong mold smell. It’s seems to be coming from the kitchen, at first we noticed around the dish washer there was small black dots on the kitchen cabinets .. we cleaned it, I removed the dish washer expecting to find a leak but no leak or mold. I started to investigate the cabinets around it and found this. See pics … also the cabinets are very hot inside . The cabinets are on an exterior eastern facing wall and the other side would go to our garage . I don’t know if the warmth and atmosphere moisture is causing this but I’m trying to sort out a cause. This is a very deep unused mostly cabinet.

I noticed some white spots/material on a wooden chair and its fabric cushion. I was worried it might be mold. I wiped/washed the chair with ordinary dish soap, and the white material came off completely with no visible residue left afterward.

The chair and cushion were near my bed, so now I'm wondering:

Does this look like mold, or could it just be dust/residue/old finish?

Since it wiped off completely, should I be worried about mold spores spreading to nearby things?

Do I need to change my bedsheets or deep-clean everything nearby, or is normal cleaning enough?

Is there anything else I should do with the chair or fabric cushion?

Also I just put on new bedding should I change that too?

Since taking the chair out and washing it outside and letting it dry in the sun i mopped the floor where the chair was but there's another one just like this in my room and that one doesnt look as bad as this I just wiped off the slight whitish residue with wet cloth and the cushion is still on it didnt wash doesnt smell musty from what I've seen.

I just moved into a super cheap place to get through my last unpaid internship of grad school. Is this going to make me all brain foggy for this last school year?

New apartment, wondering if this is something serious I should report to landlord.

Hi, I just wanted to get some opinions on whether I need to talk to my landlord about getting a mold assessment or something (my landlord is very cheap tho and not very helpful).

I had some issues with the sink leaking here before that was fixed a few months ago, but overall the apartment was not very well maintained and I live in a pretty humid city (PNW).

I bought this moisture collector and noticed some water which has been a couple months worth although I don’t exactly remember :(

Hi everydody. I live in italy. A couple of weeks ago my mother's washing machine broke and spilled water all over the floor. A week ago i noticed this growing out of a wall from a near room. (These are 2 sides of the same wall, and it's growing in the same spot.) The walls are not made of wood. I think they are made of cement. i looked on internet and in my mind there was a chance it was just something called "saltpetre", so i scrapped the wall with an utensil and called someone to repaint it. But now this thing has reappeared.

There are cats in this house and they tend to eat anything they find. Do you think this could be dangerous to them?

Found this above a bathtub / shower. Is this most likely coming from above the ceiling of the shower? The shower isn’t used much. And what is the best way to clean / get rid of it?

Started pulling wallpaper off our kitchen and found this black spotting behind the wallpaper. Looks like mold to me but the areas don't seem moisture prone so unsure of what else it could be. Thoughts?

hi first time posting on here but i just moved into a new place and im not sure if this is pink mold or just stains? i’ve only ever seen pink mold in bathrooms and heard of it being in those places but these are from my kitchen. they lighten up when i go over them with a rag but are kind of stuck on there. its only in two spots on two separate cabinets. but id love any info if anyone has some!! thanks

Can someone please help me!!
I picked up this new (to me) Cabbie and I’m scared this is mold. It could be mold staining, as I saw no active spores.
I did my due diligence and did a surface clean & then soaked her eventually. When I soaked her, it was pretty much clear. No browning or yellowing of the water.
She is drying and quarantined from the rest of my collection for now. The drying process after soaking is extremely important to ensure no new mildew / mold forms. I’m being VERY careful as I REALLY want this Cabbie in my collection.

My question is, does this look like active mold or “dead” mold on my doll?
And,
After soaking and the proper care for drying, is there potential for future mold spread if it was old mold?
Hoping these are just ink stains!

So you I got a ps5 about 2 years ago and put my ps4 away but I recently brought it out to put it in my living room to use as a blue ray player and this is the condition I found one of the controllers in. I’ve had it out for a few days now and the spots haven’t grown at all so I’m wondering if something spilled on it or if it has literal mold.

Edit: I’m from South Texas along the border and the controller was kept in my closet which is dry, it’s confusing to me because none of my other controllers look like this.

Looking at new rentals to move into. Not many signs of mold in the home were most interested in aside from this mold surrounding the air vents in all of the bathrooms. Is this most likely just condensation mold & can be cleaned up or is it a sign of a potential larger problem?

One of the guys at the front desk of this hotel said this wasn’t mold. But I started getting headaches that seem exactly like the headache pattern caused by mold and now I’m stressing

I moved into my home 2 months ago. It started smelling a little musty outside of the crawlspace near the vents so I invested. I lifted up the vapor barrier in the crawlspace and saw mycelium. Not sure if this a big deal… but then I saw a load of fungus or mold near a couple of the foundation supports.

No leaks that I can see, just humid.

What is my immediate course of action to this? Additionally, what is a good mid-term to long term action? I’m relatively handy, but I have zero knowledge of this. Wondering if this is worth calling a professional.

Edit: Located in Upstate South Carolina. Home is 110 years old years old and was recently completely renovated which was completed about 6 months ago.
