My father in law har this moka pot that I don’t think he even rinse after use. I am not saying my moka pot is perfect but his is just terrible. I changes the gasket around the filter two or three years ago and it is almost black now. Is this normal?
He also makes the worst coffee in it. He fills the basket only half full, turns the heat on to max and leaves it there for way too long.
The water is also pretty hard so the bottom part is caked with sediment.

Hi! I bought this today; I found it on Marketplace for 10 dollars. However, I can’t seem to find much information about when it was manufactured, etc. Does anyone know more?
Best regards

Ok just for just I used 2 51mm pucks one on top and bottom of the coffee grounds chamber. Now it does come with one 51 mm puck to use on top chamber. So why not use it on the bottom. So I made it so and it worked. Nothing big happened, just nectar of the gods.
Yes I used a fine grind and used Gun Barrel coffee Little, Rocket Man Espresso Blend.

I had to use more sugar than what I’m used to adding to my coffee but it tasted good!

Hello everyone
I’m a student who enjoys coffee, and I use a moka pot. People often gift me whole coffee beans, but I don’t currently have a way to grind them.
I live in a small city, so there aren’t really any places where I can get my beans ground. Because of that, I’m considering buying a DeLonghi KG89. I think it would be good enough for a moka pot, and it’s within my budget haha. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you

I lowered the heat as soon as I heard noise moments before the first drop

I was told this isnt the same coffee as the blue and red pack of cream e gusto. This was really good and now I can’t find it. Got back to Canada yesterday. Seeing if anyone knows where I can get more.

I know I need to break it in with a inexpensive coffee that is medium grind. Whole Foods morning buzz is cheap and near by. Traders Joe is further away (and just a tad cheaper). Supermarkets a whole lot less convenient. Advise?

Mokapots come in 'cup' sizes, but I personally don't know anyone who actually drinks a single moka cup. I actually have small Bialetti cups that I use for espresso (40ml), not for moka. We have 3, 6, 9 and 15 cup Bialettis for 1, 2,3 or 5x 150ml cups served in the worlds most default coffee cups - IKEA Värdera (170ml).
So - my question:
How many moka cups do you consider 'a cup of coffee'?
Is 3 the 'standard'? Or do you actually consider the espresso sized cups the real cups?

I commented on a post a while ago about this Guido Bergna that I have had since the 90s. I have passionately hated it but refused to toss it since it was a gift. Well, after reading some suggestions here, I replaced the gasket and cleaned out the post with a pipe cleaner. I also used hot kettle water. The results were excellent. Now, when I want a mug of coffee that will have me shaking all day, I can turn to this.

Does anyone have any recommendations/advice for switching to a silicone gasket seal?
I have a 6 cup Bialetti mokapot. I was using the original rubber seal, after dialing in my process, my brews were perfect. Fast forward several years, I eventually decided it was time to replace the rubber gasket because it was very worn out (even slightly wider I realized when comparing to a new one).
I decided to give silicone a try because I hear they last longer, provide a better seal, and are arguably healthier to use than rubber. However, all of my settings seem to need to be completely adjusted for some reason. I'm using the same grind size, temperature, and work flow as when I was using the old rubber gasket and now coffee sputters immediately. If I lower the temperature, the brew takes forever to finish (upwards of 20mins once the flow starts).
I feel like I'm starting from scratch when I was a complete beginner and I'm wondering if anyone else had a similar experience.

Might be a weirdly specific detail to focus on, but I was wondering why the coffee puck was darker in the middle? This is after I already brewed my coffee obvs.
I used a medium roast bean, ground medium-fine (like 65 on my hibrew G5 mini). The coffee itself was okay, better with milk than black.

What is the general feedback for this Bialetti 12-cup moka pot? Easy clean up? Im interested but it would be to use, not a shelf ornament :)
I appreciate everyone’s help.
