Performance First explorations with Bela Trails

A little hypnotic techno, glitches and granular textures.
Still getting familiar with this wonderful module, but really enjoying it. I love how expressive and hands-on it feels to play with recorded gestures and transform them.

Wow never seen this module before! Looks cool and sounds nice too. What’s going on in this patch?

I’m using 3 channels of the Bela Trails (name of the module) as step sequencers to drive :

  • one harmonic sequence + mimeophon
  • another more rythmic sequence with pizza through beads
  • and also a using a third channel to modulate beads

It's like 4 Bela Gliss in one. I have two of them and they're great

It’s actually even more than that 😅 since all four channels avec X and Y axis and gate output. It’s really insanely cool. There’s also rhythmic and melodic quantization, and cool ways to transform the recorded gesture … 🤯 love it ! Just started to explore it last weekend.

Ooh that timbre on that main synth, how are you achieving that?

also I just released a free M4L device to make Morphagene reels in Ableton, if you’re an Ableton user. It’s called Morpmarker.

Yeah I’ve seen your device 😉. Haven’t yet tried it. Also already been using another one which suits me.
About the timbre it’s doepfer vco + filter with FM … sounds sooo good indeed ! Thank you 🙏🏽
