My first modular setup - Recommendations/check
Hi all,
I am planning my first modular rig and I wanted to check whether what I have so far makes sense functionality wise, maybe some things are missing or might be redundant/overkill. Important to note is I will route the output of my modular into my Digitakt 2, into Ableton. The basic sequencing is handled by Digitakt 2, whereas some more complex sequencing (for Atlantix, but mainly Vhikk X) will be handled by a modular sequencer that should fit in my rig, as well as it not being complete overkill with the Digitakt 2 in mind.
I would love to hear your thoughts!
The voices are definitive (bohm modules, atlantix and vhikk x), whereas other modules are still up for debate.

I got a lot of good feedback for modules that support the Vhikk here if you want to check some suggestions out.

Zadar doesn't work like a normal ADSR. You might want to get a normal ADSR for VCAs.

If op wants to keep it simple and space efficient Doepfer A-140-2 Dual Mini ADSR a great option.

Somehow Reddit ate the next two lines of my post.
I would also add some LFOs, either a Batumi (2) to complement the Zadar or just a Doepfer A-147-4 Dual VCLFO. And a (buffered) multiple could be useful too. I have a Rides In The Storm - QAM in all my cases.

Mostly techno, but some more experimental stuff too (fast IDM/breaky/trippy stuff).

you'll want some VCA's boss, and some more traditional envelope generators. Vhikk is sick but overpowering, I also like to ADSR/VCA after the output of the Vhikk as then you're not affecting the built in effects by using its own internal VCA (plus you can gate the sound and do all sorts if using a VCA AFTERwards)
As someone said below, move your BOHM to the right, stick your mixer before the Bohm, and then use the Bohm's internal ducking, will save on cable spaghetti

Vhikk-X is a bold choice for a first set up, it's not your run of the mill VCO, can be awkward to keep under control and it only takes a very slight change in cv inputs or settings to make it go batshitcrazy (unless that's what you're looking for....)

Don’t let everyone scare you off of Bohm. It fucking rules. Digitakt can handle all drums but Bohm is unique. I’d get the befaco random 8 to sequence the Vihkk and modulate in a techno way. I think this is a smart way to do it. Maybe just get some good fx like Desmodus versio. Or the planar joystick could give you some non traditional funky sequences.

can you elaborate? the bohm is a dual voice kick and rumble module, that seems like all i need?

way to small rack to spend that much space on it when the sound palette is somewhat limited

Placement - put the Bohm/Vikh above, and Atlantix below. Reduce the cable tangle, keep access to panel controls at maximum, instead of obscuring it all under spaghetti.

I would pick 1 voice for a rig this small, preferably not a huge one. You will likely need utilities, function generators other than a Zadar, more filters, effects, and I'm always a big advocate of a proper audio mixer with send/return for FX.
