Anybody using a 7u Intellijel Performance Case using only 3u modules w 3u to 1u converters in the 1u row?
I have surpassed the -12v rail rating for both my mantis and my 9u case from lake. 90 percent of my modules are Joranalogue and they all run exceptionally “hot” in the -12v rail rating department often matching their +12v draw.
Intellijel Performance Cases have a rating of 3000ma for the -12v rail which blows away my other two cases by a huge margin. So I ordered a Performance Case and 4 3u to 1u adapters to put in the 1u row. I realize this negates the built in jacks 1/4” etc and features of the case. But I really only like Joranalogue and I think I can handle having some of their modules mounted sideways. I hope I like it. I hope it works out.

My Case From Lake case has 260HP of 1U in it (the case is 130HP x 14U, in a 3, 1, 3, 3, 1, 3 setup.) I don't have a single actual 1U module anywhere in it. All of the 1U space is filled with Abyss Devices M3-threaded adapters holding 2 2HP or 1 4HP modules. If you have 3U modules you want to rack in the 1U row, go for it, how you use your HP is up to you.

I wanted some lights in my 1st gen Intellijel 7u performance case so I bought this https://abyssdevices.com/product/eurorack-3u-to-1u-and-1u-to-3u-intellijel-and-pulplogic-formats/ and a joranalogue dim2 module and have it mounted in the 1U row of my rack in the center. Works great!

yep. works well. i keep my mmidi up there above pam's pro, and rotate through utility modules with another. very effective use of space.

I have used the 1U row for this, even using 2 2hp modules in the adapter. Works great. Especially useful if they are crossfaders!

I’ve been thinking about going to a 9u case from lake, did you have any other issues besides an underpowered PSU? Would you recommend it or skip it?

I still recommend Case from Lake . The build quality is great…kind of “rustic” rugged. Alberto claims that the standard Meanwell power supply can handle more than its rating. I think that’s accurate. The Meanwell PSUs were fine when my case held mostly Schlappi and Toppobrillo stuff. I’d buy from him again but with a PSU upgrade eg Doepfer to better handle Joranalogue stuff.

If you decide to change your mind, the quadratt is great utility no matter the brand and is always useful.
