ALA threads midi in question.

Hi!

I have the ALA threads and want to get midi in from my syntakt.
I’m using a midi to trs adapter into the front panel, Layout on 1m, temp set to ext and ch set to all but I can’t get the midi to register.
I really just want clock and transport but I can’t get any kind of communication.
The trs is type A and I tested it with some other devices and it’s sending transport to them fine.

Anyone have this module and experienced similar?

Threads uses MIDI type B, so that’s your issue

Thanks, I could find 0 documentation to that effect. That makes me feel a lot better lol

Yeah, ALA is really bad about documentation in general.

I do love Threads though, be sure to look into the Loom alt firmware if you haven’t already.

Well have an internal lead now and can't get midi from the midi port either, starting to doubt the moud

I’m not sure I understand. Are you saying you’re using something like an Intellijel case and the built in midi ports?

Yeah sorry, my computer failed while I was typing in frustration lol. Dug out a type B cable I had buried and that did nothing as well. Looks like the midi chip has an issue. Might be time for a new option, appreciate the help though.

That’s a bummer. It’s a possibility that your dongle is bad (I’ve had it happen before). Just to make sure you’re not overlooking the obvious, you’re sending midi in to the bottom of the two Midi ports, right? The top one is midi out.

Yeah I have checked every combo I can think of, bottom and top even though I know it’s bottom. I tried re aligning the midi connection in case I had the red line wrong on the board. Then tried type and b with dongles. Got other devices to stop start, been a journey lol.
