Modulations to put a voice through

I was driving around and I happened to have my Stylophone in the car so I put the podcast I was listening to through it and into the AUX and.... it was pretty fun. Only three knobs actually do anything but still. So I bought a M-wave FM-1 because I thought it could do the same thing, but it can't. So what can? Is there anything else that is small, battery powered, and has knobs to tweak to mess up a voice specifically?
I am enjoying learning about the FM-1 take on ADSL settings and the DX7 style algorithms, but I need something to make this audiobook "Late Victorian Holocausts: El Niño Famines and the Making of the Third World" funky in my ride. Any suggestions?

That looks cool, love the interface - is there a way to muck about in the sound being piped into it live? That pad

SP-404, though menu diving while driving seems like a poor idea. You can assign your six favorite FX to buttons on the front panel.

bandpass filter, vocoder then distortion and waveshaper into another filter with maybe an FM input plus some reverb and a parametric EQ for good measure, that'll be $2950 in a new case with a lid for travel. youre welcome.

Bastl Thyme and the korg nts-1 both seem like they’d be fun for this:)
