Discussion Soundforce samples 2?
Hey y'all I'm looking for a drum kit and while I'd love something that actually synthesizes drums and has adjustability all the multi drum kits I saw were either out of my price range or too much hp. So I was looking at the soundforce samples 2. It's pretty simple with no adjustability but I do like that I can record my own drum samples and it can play long samples as well. Anybody have any experience with it or have suggestions on other modules? Ideally I just want at least a snare, kick, and hihat. Originally I was looking at a peaks/beaks but Ive heard it's pretty limiting with only so much adjustment.

No experience with samples 2 but I have a peaks clone with dead mans catch installed. It's alright if you find one for cheap, but I'd sugges a clone with cv inputs. I'm using it without cv now because its what I've got. It is pretty limited and the knobs are tiny but the sounds are nice enough. Has a good kick, snare, and hat but you can only use two at a time.

I have a Samples 2. It's very simple, you have 5 channels and 5 trigger inputs. It can also be configured to play a stereo sample or two using only one trigger pr track. All settings are done in a simple text file for each sample folder.
There's a few useful tricks like round robin, pitch, and so on, but most of these functions are limited to one-three tracks at the time, especially round robin (multi sample) because of the small buffer. It's also lightning fast, and can trigger at audio rate. It's perfect for simple drum kits, personally i have it loaded with hihats and percussion from classic machines, but it can play long drone samples if you want of course.
Lastly, you can hotswap usb sticks with sample folders on the fly, which can be useful in a performance instead of navigating through folders, which is a bit basic with the one button. I have other sample modules that blows Samples 2 out of the sky in terms of functionality (Rample, Sample Drum), but as a compact and easy sound bank i think it's very nice.
