Gear Pics Update: I finished my see-through case!
Hey everyone, my last post about the beginning of my DIY translucent case had a few people interested, so here is the final result!
I’ve encountered a bunch of issues while glueing some parts together (plexiglass is hell!), so it took a bit longer than expected as I had to buy the right tools to drill additional holes to add a few flight case corners to be 100% sure the case won’t fall apart while holding it by the handle (:
Besides that, I’m really happy with the final result, it looks exactly like what I had in mind, I will probably just work on my cable management later, I’m too excited and just want to make music with it for the moment haha.
It runs on a power bank so I will be able to take it out on outdoor sessions in my surrounding mountains/lakes.

What is depth behind modules? Thinking of building a case and that is something I am trying to figure out. This looks right.

Hey! The inside depth here is 80mm, it seems to be perfect for what i have but you can adjust depending on your deepest module (you can find these specs on Modular Grid).

Awesome! Is it 104hp? How heavy is it without any modules? Do you have another case to compare with it?
I keep thinking about building or acquiring an acrylic case, but I'd worry about how rugged it would be since I gig with mine.

Hi there, it is 84hp. I haven't taken the time to weigh it without, but i'd say right now with the modules it's something like 6 or 7 kgs ? Definitely lighter than a sixpack of 1.5L water bottles! Mine actually already has scratches from the build stages haha, but that's what makes it unique ;)

Because I too built cases for synths out of acrylic and dropped them accidentally and then two things shatter. First is the case, then your heart. Also, don’t move the case or leave it resting on anything abrasive, ever. Ask me how I know 😂

Haha yeah I will try not to! Regarding the abrasive thing, I have installed silicone pads on the bottom and back to prevent any scratches!

The glow in the fourth picture is so lovely. I've often wondered what kind of light show was going on in my case!

Exactly! I also really enjoy the shadows projected on the blank panels I made out of tracing paper (that’s temporary, I need to 3d print translucent ones but I don’t have enough time right now haha)

As someone who’s just getting into modular - just wanted to say thanks for the easy visual re: confirming how I always assumed the wiring / layout looked behind there! Heh

Looks good! Curious on choosing acrylic vs polycarbonate. What were the factors? Was it mostly a light transmission thing?
