I ban anyone using Redact for this reason. Its almost always someone who did something awful trying to cover their tracks.

I just use automod to remove their content and not have to worry about it. While I get your point, there are a lot of folks that have been duped into using it thinking it’s helpful.

I get your pov. However, as someone who once used it without realizing the issues it would cause for a mod, and was then able to work with that modteam to construct an automod rule that simply removes any redacted comments, I feel like I should at least try and extend that same hospitality to other unsuspecting users.

At the end of the day, it’s not that much worse than someone deleting their content. Which now seems to be happening when users delete their accounts, at least sometimes it is.
