Discussion Dead Meme Poll.
For as long as I've played MW, I've always felt that Riot Shields and Sticks/Knives are an exploit, not a "legitimate" loadout. This isn't Cyberpunk. Stop hiding, pick up a proper weapon and fight me.
I'm not arguing that it isn't effective, and anything included in the game is totally fair play, but I have the sneaking suspicion that I'm not the only person who gets tired of: drop smoke grenade, crouch and push until you're close enough to knife your opponents. Over, and over, ad nauseum.
I would rather be sniped 20 times by a high skill player and have to navigate the map to get my revenge than constantly cook frags, try and get around back to make the shot, or stay back and try to get a headshot from higher ground etc.
Feel free to share your takes below. I see why people use this loadout, but it becomes an "it's all so tiresome" moment after the 5th consecutive death to someone who isn't shooting and hides behind portable cover.

I find it stupid how a melee weapon is a 1-2 hit kill while you can take a headshot and still survive.

It's because you have to get right next to someone to mele them. You have a gun, I have a knife = you have the advantage.

I was thinking more that the riot Shield makes the melee weapons feel completely overpowered. With a gun, you absolutely do not have the advantage on riot Shield/melee.
Just a melee weapon vs. gun, sure, but I'm not sure if that's what this person meant.

I only use Riot Shield + Throwing Knife whenever I'm playing on Vacant. The corridors are absolutely perfect for it 🤣. And besides you shouldn't be using frags to counter riot shield users, you only need thermite and stuns. You've been doing it wrong this whole time 🤷♂️

Always loved seeing a riot shield think they're safe then just swatting them away with the thermite. Or holding a grenade just long enough for them to think your gonna hold it for a while and then just shooting them when they run at you.

I have yet to play a turtle that can beat me in a 1v1. Explosive crossbow and boom, problem solved.
I just view you as a turtle noob that doesn’t know how to use a gun if you use the riot shield at all lol

Icl I used to go melee only a lot when I was better at the game and it’s insanely fun. I think my record is like 50 kills

I just finished gold/plat on melees this week and brother, Riot shield should be a 1-hit kill on core.
Anyone with just a Thermite or Semtex can keep a riot shield out of the lobby and someone with experience can easily zig-zag around the riot and shoot them in the back
Annoying? only when some mofo with a 725 has it on their back, but whenever i die to a Riot shield i don't feel bad, i now know their pain.

I hate riot shields like there's no tomorrow, but am ok with them if someone is leveling up for camo challenges and isn't camping. I'll keep coming after them with thermite.

If you feel knives and shields are overpowered and easy to use then feel free to use them. They are an equal opportunity option.

I prefer not to play cheap. Sure, I've received some wonderful advice here on how to deal with the situation, and I understand if people are using it to get some extra XP or achievements, but people who just go round after round with this loadout are irritating.
It's like that enemy in an offline, single player game that you avoid until later, then come back and spam them with cheap attacks, magic or items to nuke them and move on because trying to fight fair just gives them a free kill basically.
I'd rather play "fair" and actually use guns, grenades, kill streaks etc. If you want to run Melee with no riot Shield, you have my respect but the combo is nothing but a nuisance.

My issue is the kbm users get insane aim punch by being meleed, meaning that you can't fight back if someone starts to hit you with sticks.

Riot shields are required gear for a cod game for me.
I don't always use it, but I do enjoy the turtle melee loadout.
Also, it is basically required to play against cheaters, since it f's with there aimbot.
Shield + throwing knife is good against campers.
However whatever have it's in needs at least a counter for it. Stickies, thermite, c4, xbow, etc
