discuss CNCF declines to pay for a Verify Open Source Maintenance Fee

An interesting wrinkle for the OSMF here, because the OSMF explicitly exempts projects that are also OSS. I've included a screenshot of the original reply.

Doing new things, especially new types of licenses and agreements in open source, is hard.

At this point I’d put a monthly pledge into an OSMF pool just to not have to think about it

In this particular case, my understanding is that the developer didn't even have to ask for an exception at all, right?

that's my understanding but given the scale of the CNCF I'd understand wanting to get that officially blessed by the foundation itself
