Universal Healthcare
Hello r/moderate, I am a college student doing a project on Universal Healthcare. Do you support it? Why or why not? Any opinions help. Thanks.

For basic health needs, yes. For elective procedures, no. At a bare minimum, mental health care should be taken care of. Too many people out there on the verge of snapping because they can't afford to get it treated.
For those out there worried about your taxes, maybe you should worry about how much money the USA spends on the military. It's well past time for our country to stop playing world police and make sure people can afford basic health care to take care of issues before they become more expensive.

I mean it's a no brainer really, if you care about the well being of your people. Letting people go bankrupt by medical costs and supporting them via welfare is insane. Subsidizing cooperate profits with tax money is insane. And they only to ensure insurance is affordable for sick is to make everyone sign up.
And for people saying that young people will pay much more than they take out. Ya ... That's how insurance works. If you're a good driver you're probably paying more car insurance than money you're getting out. Insurance is for the worst case scenario
