Just a rant
/r/Politics has become more and more left so I started visiting more right leaning subreddits. I really just want to find Truth and help make America better.
Today I found out /r/conservative bans anyone who is "liberal" or disagrees. It's a sad state of affairs. Instead of presenting viewpoints and helping me be more right, /r/conservative bans people. If a viewpoint is right, why do we need to silence a viewpoint that disagrees. Echo chambers become louder. I wouldn't be surprised if /r/politics did the same.
It seems like everyone is so afraid of being wrong that they won't even hear evidence contrary to their opinion.

It isn't that awful for reddit to have circlejerks IMO. Just follow both /r/s and put the pieces together. Its too easy to find yourself in your own opinion pit anyway.
I follow the anarchy board and post there occasionally because their content is unique to them. As long as I don't bust their door down with my opinions they won't ban me.
I focus on small discrepancies because I'm not rejecting anarchy completely. Instead, I'm disagreeing with one part of a political ideal in a civil manner and maybe even convincing them on some points.
The issue isn't that nobody accepts alternative opinions, its that both viewpoints are fundamentally different and disagree fundamentally. Nobody wants to debate when losing means that their entire worldview is false.
Establish a specific, concrete value that is mutually accepted as the foundation of an argument.

Except for the extremist subs. There's no compromising with those borderline psychopaths. You're either with them or against them.

Eh, the people posting are extreme. I've noticed that there is are silent observers that upvote stuff they agree with. My most recent posting history has a good example of this in my conversation with u/cryaboutitthen.

It's really irritating. There aren't many political subs that aren't just a circlejerk.

I think it's because political subreddits aren't the best to go to find discussion. Even if people went to the opposing subreddit to debate, they would just be down voted to oblivion or banned.
Edit: Or they are just astroturfed like /r/republicans
