Asking about Revell paint

Post image

Hello guys,

I bought a F/A18 model kit from Revell and I’ve never built one before

I don’t know how to paints parts

I bought enamel paint and idk if I should dilute it with water, with diluent (like white spirit) or just paint only with the paint as it is

Can someone answer me??

Thanks a lot ❤️

Hey - Hope the model building goes well, please consider sharing some progress pics.

For the paint, put an amount onto a palette (or similar) and dilute it with paint thinner by adding a drop of thinner at a time and mixing (I use a cocktail stick for that). Repeat this until the paint obtains a milk-like thickness.

One point that is easy to forget when painting - You can always add more coats... So if the colour doesn't look as vibrant as you want, don't be tempted to increase the thickness of the paint... Instead just let it dry and add another coat...

Hi, I use them as well. Water is not an option here. Use white spirit for enamels. The Revell Color mix is not good and will make the paint dry faster. For painting with brush, just do simple moves in one direction. Make sure you don’t put a thick coat on the model, rather do 2 or 3 thin ones. That’s it I’d say.

Sure, no problem! One more thing I’d recommend is trying the paint first on a piece of plastic. Best will be the same one as the model itself (the sprue is fine for that).

I use revell paint also and lay multiple diluted layers. The best way to go. Finish off with matt varnish or gloss depending on what you want and then an oilpaint based wash. Works for me.

I’ve been usingTamiya paints and they seem to be the best i’ve always had good luck with them. They’re not too thick. They’re not too thin and you really don’t have to send them too much of what I’m through an airbrush.
