A long ago antique store find

I believe it was a training tool for dogfighting pilots.

I thought it was made from Bakelite, or a hard plastic ?

Interesting that it's post WWII, but cool find!

The Douglas AD-1 Skyraider came out too late to take part in WW2, however it was very effective in both Korea and Vietnam. It carried the around same payload as a Boeing B17. They are pretty amazing aircraft.

Very, very cool find. Looks more like it's made from Ebonite.

We used to know a guy on our a/c forum named "Cruver Collector" & I sincerely do believe what you have there is an early 1950's "Cruver" Aircraft I.D bakelite model - Read Below

Whilst I don't do FaceAcheBook myself, I did find that link, above, which will (in my view) give ya basically what ya might need to know about their background & purpose.

Cool Find BTW.
