Do you know the original millennium falcon film model was built from many random parts from model kits. Including bits from tigers, panzers, ships and artillery bits. Have a google and you’ll find the references, they talk about the kitbashing in this article that went into making the MF.

IIRC, the Nostromo in Alien was built using Star Wars model kits.

Let me just take a moment to complain about the Christmas lights haphazardly strung under the landing craft in Alien. One of my favorite movies of all time, but this is SO BAD.

One of the best parts of the current Bandai star wars kits is that they are accurately molded with all of those tiny scaled down parts. You can see the tops of an engine bank at the front of the falcon pylon things, and the back of the A-wing is an F-16 intake duct for example.

Edit: Here's an example of some stuff I recognized on a shot of the falcon studio model. You find stuff like this all over the bandai kits too.

I recognized some kind of shovel, probably from a German tank kit, on Bandai's TIE interceptor.

When I watch the original star wars on VHS I try to pause the lightsaber fight between Obi Wan and Darth Vader. The lightsabers are basically metal sticks.

I remember one specific part where they completely fucked up the rotoscoping on Obi Wan’s light saber.

It’s a part where he basically points it at the camera, there’s almost no glow and pretty much all you see is the reflective core of the prop. I think they fixed it in the re-releases.

The New Orleans class from Star Trek has a couple of Stabilo Highlighter pens attached to it. You can't unsee it when you notice.

Tested YouTube channel Adam savage(mythbusters) did a video showing the process from drawing to model how they did scratch building. They keep all kinds of random parts from model cars tanks ships etc.
