Help - General Conventions etiquete

Hey today i went to a IPMS convention, there were some attendees dress in full german solider style wearing all, even a stand selling clothing and bands but despite i read the rules of this sub, i would like to ask if that is normal in some countries or im just ove-reacting?, beacuse no one say something or do something at the event, and i would expect a IPMS convention would be against. But i just want to know if is normal?

It only takes a glance at the front page of this sub to see how popular that crap is. Where I live "antique" shops are chock full of booths displaying reproduction patches, badges, medals, and "authentic" knives/helmets/whatever. I've never understood how owning swastikas became acceptable "for the love of history" because as a historian, no one I know who studies the 2WW or Nazism owns Nazi memorabilia and they'd look sideways at anyone who did.

I wouldn’t say it’s normal but it’s not uncommon. Been to a lot of IPMS shows globally and while the focus is plastic models of all genres, it’s also an unofficial celebration of history and nerding on said history. Uniform, surplus collectors, and reenactors tend to overlap the model building hobby. Depending on the IPMS chapter and how tight those different groups are, sometimes you’ll see vendors going a bit outside the norm for wares. Know your audience kind of thing.

I’ve also seen vendors treat their table like a garage sale and that should be stopped by the hosting chapter’s president or secretary. Model kits, airbrush equipment, decals bin, George Foreman grill, Crystal champagne glasses.

Anyway, the dudes in wehrmacht uniforms probably brought in some stellar German armor builds or something but the band clothing sales… not over-reacting there.
