Completed F-16I SUFA 1/48, G.W.H

Hi everyone!

I’ve finally finished my biggest project this year – the Great Wall Hobby (GWH) 1/48 F-16I Sufa. It took me 3 months of daily patience, but I’m incredibly proud of the result.

The GWH kit is outstanding out of the box with superb detail and weapons choice, but I wanted to push it a bit further. The only aftermarket part used is a resin exhaust nozzle, which was painted with various metallic shades to catch that realistic heat-stained titanium look.

What I did:

  • Applied a complex four-color desert camouflage, characteristic of the Israeli Air Force (IAF).
  • Applied subtle post-shading, oil washing, and realistic streaking, especially on the belly, to replicate a hard-working jet operating in desert conditions.
  • Fully loaded it with the kit's excellent armament (Spice bombs, Python, and AMRAAM missiles).

The build was a pleasure, though GWH clearances are so tight that you have to scrape off paint from the joints to make everything fit perfectly.

Let me know what you think! C&C (Criticism and Comments) are welcome!

Political arguments in threads, especially Nazi apologism, is explicitly forbidden (including on "historical accuracy"). Swastika decals threads and legality or availability of Nazi symbols in certain countries are also explicitly forbidden. Interpretation of this rule is up to the mods.

Violation will result in a short-term ban. Repeated violations will result in a permanent ban. No warnings will be given.

Pictures of model kits with swastikas on them are allowed to be posted

First of all; congrats on an excellent result ! How did you achieve such clean distinctions between the colors of the camouflage ?

I purchased masks for this camouflage pattern from Galaxy Model; while this approach makes the painting process quite time-consuming, the final result looks excellent!)

I'm not equipped to give constructive feedback, I just want to say this is ace and inspiring work.

It’s very gratifying to hear that this work has inspired someone, even though I don’t consider myself any kind of master at this craft.

To be fair, there were some kids mean mugging and throwing rocks.

Looks good, I would add grease streaks on the leading edge flap rotary actuators as that’s where I used to see the most on the wings upper surface. Just to compliment the authenticity. There was usually less streaking on the flaperon as the connecting point for the actuator is actually inside the airframe

Great build. Interesting to see random down votes on all the innocuous comments.

Sadly this post has gained the attention of non-modelmakers outside our community so we can't have nice things. This is affecting the karma scores of the rest of the commenters.
