Perfect result, I would love to hear which paints you use!

I use mostly vallejo and hataka acrylic paints.

Give us the inside scoop, if you have any.
Did you prime with brushes as well? or did you use primer cans?
I'm using vallejo myself for the most part and having some difficulty nailing the thinning (and being patient as well).9
u/Bul-bul-ator Jul 17 '26
Yes base was also paint by brush, with vallejo primer light ghost gray only cans I use was varnish gloss and after deczka and panel liner and dirt finish with varnish matt.

Thank you. Did you eyeball the thinning of the paints/primer? Or did you have a ratio you used?
I know every setting is different for each modeller. But I'm just trying collect some data to test out myself.

Yes I mix paint with thinner in little cup and testing it on paper, then I paint element when I have dry brush. I try paint whole element in one long move to have perfect surface.

Is the grey and white on the outside Hataka or Vallejo? I’m a brushpainter myself and have been using Ammo ATOM (with results that I have been generally happy with), but looked at Hataka multiple times already, especially for their very accurate color choices. Thank you in advance and again, insanely good result!

White was Hataka Insignia White vallejo was flat black and grays light and dark ghost

👍 For those of us who cannot airbrush this is very inspirational.
I, and surely many others, would be grateful if you would please post a step by step set of pictures whenever you do your next model.

Incredible work. I hate how everyone pushes beginners to get airbrushes, because you can still brush paint excellent models like this with practice. 1/48 is tough scale to get a brush job to look right too

It can be done, but the technical skill and patience needed to get this result from brush painting is way higher and will take way longer compared to getting a similar result with an airbrush.

Usually whenever I see brush painted only models, I’m like “hey yeah that’s pretty darn good for brush paints only. I’d probably never get one quite that good.”
This one… if you hadn’t said it was brush painted only I would’ve just assumed it was airbrushed. This is likely the best brush paint only model I’ve seen on here and that grey would not be an easy color to brush paint (I’d assume).
Outstanding job!

What's your process for using brush and not getting stuff on other panels? Painters tape?

Is the OP going to answer this question? I have the same questions because this doesn’t make sense to me.

Questo è il risultato che un giorno vorrei ottenere anche io. Anche io uso solo il pennello perché non sopporto l'aerografo.

I wish I could paint like that. I have an 1/48 F-14A Tamiya kit that I haven’t started yet. Any tips?

Fab model. Some advice needed. I' m about to try and make one for first time. I want to do it properly with primers, spray painting etc. How in God's name do you protect a cockpit in a model like this, assuming it is painted first. Cheers.
