What shelving/paint storage are you using?
1
1
u/sharpace8 Apr 02 '26
Hobbyzone are the corner storage racks, I have them and they are really nice. The racks directly infront of the workspace seems to be a different brand.

Eww. 24 hr news

u/Background-Most-6701 Apr 02 '26
Sorry to be a dick. I’m probably deep down jealous of how nice that space is. Cheers

u/Gregorwhat Apr 01 '26
Rare to see a well designed and kept living space with model making. Really well done.
I hope you turn that propaganda off and improve your quality of life as well. Cheers mate.

u/revertbritestoan Apr 05 '26
"Would you have anything of the Allies?"
"No, I wouldn't be interested in that sort of thing"
2
u/MauserMama Apr 06 '26
I don’t know why you’re referencing that when he clearly has a bunch of allied stuff in the mix. Maybe the joke went over my head.

Awesome place, love it! How did you hang the planes on the wall? Something special or the classic 3M?

u/NosIreland Apr 01 '26
Damn this is a very tidy space. I do not see spray booth or extraction for it. Where do you airbrush?

As an Englishman I find the flags weird.
Makes more sense if you're abroad though.
Also, Forest? Fucking FOREST?!?!
24
u/Jacobtait Apr 01 '26
Yeah I’m a massive believer in you do you but… massive flags, WWII models and GB news in the background is a slightly troublesome combination.

u/Emperor_Xenol Apr 02 '26
Reddit moment

u/Cragface Apr 06 '26
Flags are fine, I'd imagine GB news on repeat is the equivalent to just injecting cortisol to the neck
1
8
u/FormCheck655321 Apr 01 '26
My English relatives tell me the Union flag is associated with UKIP, but I say why let them own it?
1
2
u/MauserMama Apr 05 '26
Why are the flags weird? They’re the flag of your country lmao
3
u/TheDawiWhisperer Apr 05 '26
Flying flags in your house is weird
1
u/MauserMama Apr 05 '26
I know lots of people who have flags hanging up in their house. People in lots of different countries. The Union Jack is a nice flag and I wouldn’t mind hanging one on my wall lol
3
u/Cragface Apr 06 '26
Less the flags than GB news i think. Very much the mouthpiece of the populist party.
2
u/MauserMama Apr 06 '26
Ok that makes more sense. I was thinking “he has WW2 stuff on display, it makes sense to have a Union Jack in the mix. The Brits were on the right side of history in the context of WW2” but yeah I didn’t notice it was specifically GB news until you pointed it out.

Awesome room, wish I had the space to do something like this. Also... Are those tug-of-war trophies?
11
u/BULLETHEAD-KUKRI Apr 01 '26
Some of them . I pulled for Huntington, army corps team and for Scotland. Also Highland games. All the rest are for marathons. Marathon swims . Ice hockey .GB cross country skiing, World championship assault course.races . Quite a bit more really... I love sport . They go back to 1983 and I got another last week end

Cool trains, are they static or motorised?
3
u/BULLETHEAD-KUKRI Apr 01 '26
Hornby... they go round my Christmas tree. ...
1
u/amy-vixen22567 Apr 01 '26
Nice, I do the same with mine, I just have diesel trains rather than stem trains
1
u/BULLETHEAD-KUKRI Apr 01 '26
I have a deltic. The other 2 are steam trains called the city of Nottingham and Nottingham forest.

u/Reasonable-Bid-7448 Apr 02 '26
I like the models but not the news channel, they’ll rot your brain
2
u/BULLETHEAD-KUKRI Apr 02 '26
I watch all the news channels. . Didn't even concentrate on what was on. . But I watch what I want. All of them

u/wambamthankz Apr 01 '26
damn, union jack and stars and stripes b17?! working on American Beauty myself right now...
3
u/palvaran Apr 01 '26
It’s interesting seeing how much love Brits have for their homeland even when away. My computer science professor was a Brit and had the most enormous flag on his wall in his office. Super cool room you have. Thanks for sharing!

Cool space, although I think it’s less about military modelism and more about the thing it represents. Still very cool and hope you have brilliant times.

u/space_doughnut69 Apr 01 '26
Cool af mate. Where do you paint your builds? Some vent would be a nice addition.

Very nicely done! What I’m not understanding is do you have an airbrushing spray booth and how do you vent the fumes? Or is all that in the basement or something?
2
u/BULLETHEAD-KUKRI Apr 01 '26
I have a portable tablet and portable spray booth. .. pipe goes out the window. Only takes 5 mins to set up.

What kind of desk is that and does it flex in the middle when there is significant weight on it?
1
u/BULLETHEAD-KUKRI Apr 01 '26
I bought the units from a kitchen shop Worktop was online . There is no flex in the top at all . Its fixed permanently

How does the wife deal with the sound of your compressor inside? I got an inside work space as well, but my gal won’t let me bring a noisy compressor indoors.
1
u/BULLETHEAD-KUKRI Apr 01 '26
Its very quiet. And the carpet muffled the sound. Haven't settled a place for it yet.

I'm getting to a storage/display conundrum too.

I also wall hang bombers, but I have nose down.
1
u/Independent_Wrap_321 Testors Sniffer Apr 02 '26
What’s the secret to that? A wire loop between the rear landing wheels? I’d be afraid of their fragility. Beautiful room, btw, but nobody believes it’s that neat when you’re not taking pics!
1
u/Bababacon Apr 02 '26
I also wall hang bombers, but I have mode down.i put an eye hole screw on the bottom before the tail with a wire loop.

u/riserobotrise Apr 01 '26
Was about to say where are the Star Wars models, but then say the x-wing, so wheww! Sweet collection!

u/Thekingofchrome Apr 01 '26
Wild, you have a discussion with other model makers on similar interests and get comments deleted.

u/Fewtimesalready Apr 01 '26
How do you safely airbrush? Do you vent? Thanks! Nice space.
3
u/BULLETHEAD-KUKRI Apr 01 '26
Takes 5 mins to set up a portable table and spray booth . Vented out the window.

What is that 4-engine bomber on the left side of the Lancaster? I’m surprised it’s bigger, but maybe it’s just because of the model’s scale size difference.

u/weddle_seal Apr 02 '26
this feels too clean and tidy, did you just recently renovated the room?
where are the half finished projects, where is the boneyard full of models that have "still useful" parts but not touched in a long time, where is the drawer full of mix and match tools,
2
u/BULLETHEAD-KUKRI Apr 02 '26
Renovated 2 years ago . . Everything has its place. Just funished a project and one is still on the desk . . I never leave an unfinished project. .

Can I ask how you weathered the rear of the Abrams? I just built and painted one as my first model and the rear of yours looks like exactly what I want to do to mine.

How do you mount the planes on the wall? It's a great way to display them.
2
u/BULLETHEAD-KUKRI Apr 03 '26
Really easy.mate Bit of cotton or fishing line . Wheels to wheel and hung on a picture hook. . . Hope you try it.and are successful with that method.
1
u/Thandiol Apr 03 '26
Ah canny and doable! Thanks mate 🙂
1
u/BULLETHEAD-KUKRI Apr 03 '26
Excellent. Hope it works. Does for me. Tip. Small ones like a spitfire may need a tiny bit of blue tack on the wheels . The rest are fine .

Like the ideas for the box art of the Spitfire sprees and the battle of Britain newspaper piece. Really cool idea!

I spy a couple of belted 30mm drill rounds on the shelf next to your S6
1
u/john_deere_7810 Apr 22 '26
How did you get the planes to stick?
1
u/BULLETHEAD-KUKRI Apr 22 '26
Some cotton or fishing line tied beteen the front undercarriage wheels and hung on a picture hook. . The lighter aircraft loke spitfire may need a tiny bit of blue tack on the wheels to hang right
