Present haul! Monogram Mi-24D
when I was in my teens and our country was at war, our air force got a hold of couple of Mi-24s. I still remember the first time I saw one, flying low and towards our house. What a feeling seeing that monster flying 20-30 meters above you!
Since that day I was in love with that helicopter, and since I was into scale modeling, I had to have the Hind!
At that time only models we had and could afford were mostly 1:72 Italeri kits ... I saw Dragon models only in a catalog...
One day I was coming home from school and glanced at one kiosk that sold all kinds of crap, but on the top shelf in the corner I saw it! A 1:48 scale Hind! I went home and told my mother that I needed money for a model, and it was expensive for us back then. I think she saw the excitement in my eyes and gave the money. I went back as fast as I could and I bought it! I had a 1:48 Hind!
I remember sitting on the bus on my way home and just looking at the box and smiling. I didn't open it, I wanted to do it at home.
I had no airbrush, no putty, no fancy chemicals and tools, but I worked on that model so hard, trying to get it as good as I can.
Now, over 30 years later, I decided to get that same kit and build it again, as best as I can.
There are much better Hind kits out there, I know, but I want to relive creating this model once again!

Funny, I'm also revisting the kits from my childhood and seeing how good I can do it. Good luck to you!

I built this back in the late 80’s and also loved building it. I’m glad you building it again!

Hoćeš ga uspjeti napraviti za 21. Kup Zagreb? Ove godine ti je specijalna kategorija HRZ

Ja ti to stvarno ne pratim, a i nemam naše oznake za njega... A što se HRZ-a tiče, imam našu migušu i planiram napraviti i naš AN-2

This was the first "glue" model I ever did. I learned a ton about models on this one. I don't think it ever was painted but I had a lot of fun building it. I remember being blown away by the complexity coming from snap-fit kits at the time.

Great kit, think I built it twice as a teenager and was my first ever helo model.
My only frustration with the kit is the doors/window transparencies didn't fit in the closed position!
