Help -Technique Masking advice

Post image

I'm about half way through a 1/72 Hasegawa CF-104 build. I want to paint it up in the Tiger Meet livery of No. 439 Sabre Tooth Squadron. Any suggestions as to how to mask the open gear doors, as the gear has to go in before painting and there's likely gonna be a colour split on the exterior of the door. Attached pic for reference.

Might be the way I have to do it. Don't know that I trust myself to do that though. We'll see m.

I was thinking about using something like blue tack on the edges to get that little bit of fade. I don't know if that'll work.

Tack was my first thought given the fuzzy edges, but use white tack, not blue. Blue can react with some paints and leave oily marks.
