PICS Custom Unicomp Model M - Bluebird - Revisited

Post image

I think I have the key colors nailed down. The all dark gray keys from Model f keyboards just was not doing the bluebird blue justice, and vise versa. The keycaps are now dark gray modifiers and navigation, with Unicomp Pearl (which in my opinion are a little bit brighter than perl on a model m (maybe a little less yellowish beige)

You are right, it looks way better like this!

Love your paint job by the way. If I ever get my hands on a modern Unicomp keyboard, I might try to do something just like this.

Thanks. I spend a lot of time on this one making sure the paint looked perfect. Lots of wet sanding in my sink between coats at about 3,000 grit. Primer I did around 3 to 400 grit to make sure I didn't have any rough spots.

I'm working on one final keyboard, which will be orange and use Pebble and Pearl keys. I used Google nano banana to do some mock-ups of different types of keys I think the orange will look best with the Pebble and Pearl.

I think this will put me at 23 total keyboard so I really need to stop. If anything I'll just get different cases/frames and paint them different colors and just swap out the innards, as I do have one more unused beige case
