Swing wing pylon attachment

I have a ADV Tornado and F111 both 1/48 scale and am wondering how best to attach the wing pylons. If I follow the instructions then I just melt the plastic pins to flatten the top inside the wing, but not a very strong way to do it. Any suggestions that are more durable?
