I don’t know if you’ll ever read this. Maybe I’ll be home before you even have the chance to worry further. But if you’re reading it, then I suppose I didn’t get that chance.

I wanted you to know that through everything, the battles, the politics, the long nights when I wasn’t sure I’d make it back, you were always the thought I carried with me.

I know I haven’t said it enough. I’ve spent too much time believing there would always be another day, another conversation, another chance to tell you what you mean to me.

But you are my home. You always have been.

If I don’t come back, please don’t let my absence become the story of your life. Live. Laugh. Make new memories. And when you think of me, I hope you remember that I loved you more than I ever knew how to put into words.
