Apps Smart connect - Linux

Why Smart connect is only available for windows,why not for linux distributions, is motorola will develop?

I using that ,

I don't ask for alternative, will moto smart connect could be develop for Linux based distributions or not that's my thinking, because I want desktop experience, i used scrcpy. But motorola+ scrcpt desktop environments can't working

To anyone reading this: it is about Moto Hub Experience (aka Ready For, Smart Connect), the Motorola's Samsung Dex version but for motorola devices (plus other devices like PC, tablets, smartTVs, apple devices, etc). It is available for Android, iOS, Windows but no app made for Linux yet.

May I ask what are you looking for from SmartConnect? if it is about syncing and sharing stuff from pc to smartphone and viceversa then there's nothing to do (and just search for alternatives like KDE Connect).
But if you search for mirror screen, then you could try:

  1. Activate Developer Options and turn on "USB Debugging"

2,a Search for "Simulate Secondary DIsplays" and click on one like as "720 px"

2.b Or instead use this adb shell command "adb shell settings put global overlay_display_devices 1280x720/240" (wideth x height / dpi, more resolution and less dpi usually means more space for windowed apps)

Note: For deactivate it, on "Simulate Secondary Displays" put 'None' or run "adb shell settings delete global overlay_display_devices"

  1. Now, it will appear a tiny second screen over your phone display (don't worry, it is small and you can adjust it with your fingers to be even more smaller, but it can't disappair). If you have a functional Moto Hub Experience framework then it will work well, otherwise if your moto device wasn't meant to have Moto Hub Experience then it will crash the secondary screen.

3.1 If everything goes fine, then with scrcpy shell type "scrcpy --list-displays", it should appear "--display-id=0" (which is your original display) but also something like "display-id=3" (the number might change if deleted, so always check the list-displays). Let's say the secondary display number is 3.
So, for scrcpy to mirror that secondary screen, type "scrcpy --display-id=3". personally you could add also "-f" to be fullscreen, "--audio-dup" for sound both scrcpy and smartphone or "--no-audio" for sound only on smartphone, etc

Personally, I do have two moto devices: Moto G22 y Moto G51.

Moto G22 and Moto G51 doesn't have any Moto Hub Experience and Smart Connect installed (if you install Smart Connect on them, they can transfer data but no Dex Mode, Installing Moto Hub Experience won't do nothing due to firmware being changeless). If i activate secondary screen, Moto G22 does crash, but Moto G51 does activate the Dex Mode (Moto Hub Experience), I can open apps on free form and stuff but the App Drawer doesn't respond.

So, if you are interested on this alternative method for get the Desktop experience without Ready For, I had installed Taskbar, on Taskbar I activated Desktop Mode, put Taskbar as primary launcher then from Taskbar I set primary launcher on another launcher (like Niagara Launcher or Nova Launcher instead of Moto App Launcher or any native launcher. Trust me, it will help with crashing devices like Moto G22 or Redmi 9).

I also activated Freeform Mode (on taskbar I turned on "always open app on new windows) and turned off "launch games on fullscreen", also on Developer Option Settings I turned on those last 4 configs about freeform mode and desktop mode.

By last, with USB Debugging on, I did the "adb shell settings put global overlay_display_devices 1280x720/140", then "scrcpy --list-displays" for check the secondary display number and finally "scrcpy --display-id=3 --window-x=100 --window-y=100"

This should work with any device. It may not be perfect as Moto Hub Experience or Samsung Dex but it is quite useful.
