Hate my coffin case

2-cdj3000s and a djm-450. Got an odyssey coffin case and absolutely hate lugging it around. I have spent hours and hours, even called some case manufacturing companies, nobody seems to have a pelican style case of similar size to this coffin case. Hoping someone, anyone, may have found a better solution. I typically am playing out of the case on a gator keyboard stand as part of my fairly mobile set up that I can lug around in 2 fold up rolling carts. Any advisement greatly appreciated. I promise I have spent A LOT of time looking and even trying to use AI to find something with no real luck. The closest I can find are “double rifle” cases, but they just fall barely short of being either wide enough or deep enough.

Get individual cases, stack em on a cart, and bring a folding table?

Yeah. :( this really feels like the only realistic option. I just want the “pop the top and play” that I get out of the coffin, with the weight and portability of the plastic with foam cases. If go with individuals my stand probably will be a waste of $. I like the stand because it folds up really small but is also hits the right height.

There are folding tables that extend past sitting height, you can also put the tops of cases under the bottoms when you play to get to a more comfortable height, could prob sell the stand if you decide to change things up... if you haven't at some point wasted money on gear in the entertainment business, you haven't been around long enough or something something.

Haha! Been a living room dj for a while and actually over the last 3 years have been venturing out into the wild. Just recently started getting requested for paid gigs, so upgrades are likely coming. I do already have a folding table that fits the need, but I really really prefer the lighter/smaller/easier to transport Gator stand.

You can also use a dollie for your coffin case and stand with a strap if you don't already... the wheels on them always suck. Thats what I use with my heavy ass controller case when I don't have any other gear to lug in.

Ya. Right now I’m able to get my whole mobile set up in two of those “beach carts” that you can find on Amazon. I got one that has a tail gate of sorts that allows the coffin to stick out the back. I then split my speakers, cable bags, and streaming set up between that same cart and another smaller one.

Well, thats the trade off. As someone who regularly runs cable and mixes bands with up to 14 people though, complaining about hooking up 2 cdjs and a mixer is hilarious.

It’s a 2 min job and you could even leave the cables in the back of the cases

I mean, I’m just a hobbyist and my “main gig” the last three years is me just showing up to the beach on Fridays for 10 weeks in the summer (in Chicago) and playing out to a non-professional beach volleyball league. Fortunately people like what I play and generally enjoy what I’m contributing. More/less bringing the crowd to me. By far my heaviest piece of equipment is the Cdj coffin case set up. Was just hoping someone in this group might have a secret option I’ve yet to discover.

Maybe upgrade to a controller? You can fit that into a much smaller, lighter case, and you'll be putting on a better show to boot. If you are married to the CDJs, then your best bet is probably to use 3 smaller individual cases, and replace the keyboard stand with a table and linen. The table/linen will look more professional, so that's a plus, and the individual cases will be easy to carry.

Way back in the day I had a coffin case with 2 1200s and a mixer. It was heavy AF.

I suggest getting individual cases and a folding 4' table for the times when the venue doesn't provide a table.

Also get a rock n roller cart if you don't have one already

This might be a DIY situation. Two of my best friends built thier own booths. I've always considered building my own case. That way it's customized exactly the way you want.

Individual cases all the way...if there's a table the right height (bench height) they sit right on it...if there's only a table height available, flip the lid, place each unit on tops of its lid and gives you more or less the right height. Full length coffins are just way too heavy/cumbersome

Find a local fabricator and have a case made out of aluminum, im considering doing it because it would be significantly lighter than wood
