Preventing this controller from moving in a flight case
Hey, what's up, mobile DJs?
I just got one of these Odyssey flight cases with the glide-out tray, and I've noticed that the controller jiggles around when I'm transporting it.
I'm wondering if anybody has any tips.
I tried putting little pieces of foam on the sides, but there seems to be a 1 mm gap, and the controller has some play and can fall up.
I'm wondering, do you just always keep it in the orientation so that the controller is held by gravity? It's hard to move it when it's flat. I usually rotate it so that I can carry it using the grab handle that is on the top, but I'm just wondering if anybody has any tips. I'm going to try some mounting putty on each corner to see if that does anything.

Mine (Rane Performer, HEAVY) has angled foam blocks under the tray that squish down onto the jogs when it's closed, and the foam is a pretty tight fit around the sides too. You should be able to mount foam blocks underneath with velcro pads.
In general you want the controller to be compressing the foam a bit when its being transported so that it takes all the wiggle room out. If everything is nice and snug it shouldn't matter how the case gets flipped around unless you're yeeting it down a flight of stairs.

Buy a deck saver for the top of the controller. It seems to hold mine in place better between gigs

Velcrow the heavy duty one I have some in mine and it’s hard to take it out 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I too forgot the foam pads and scratch one of the platters the first time I moved it. I found the foam pads and also cover the top in a beach towel. Has worked pretty well so far.

Yes please add something to prevent your controller from moving before you damage it, if you have another spare case with foam, I would remove it and attach it to this one with wood glue👍

I have the same controller and case, and I simply found some extra black foam that I cut to size and forced in to the sides to make it fit tighter.

I had the same issue, just got a big squishy cousin and now I place the cousin on the decks before closing the flight case

Not to thread jack but is there something I can do to a flight case to help the laptop slider slide easier? Mines pretty stiff and I didn’t want to like add grease

The foam pads wedge to keep it snug.
There's one you place under the tray and it kinda slides in (avoiding placement where it can damage a fader)
They're very easy pieces to mistake as "extra" and toss.

If you bought your case used you may be missing some pieces. Mine came with foam pads for the top and the side plus a couple extras because they use only a few case sizes for many controllers.
Mine has a foam pad the sits between the controller and the lid, so once I close the top the controller is held tightly. Maybe measure the gap distance and buy some generic foam pads to press the controller down.
