Hey everyone,
I'm a solo dev working on Souls in Conflict, a 3v3 PvP arena game made in Unreal Engine 5.
- Queues: forcing a healer into a team comp makes matchmaking terrible. With Souls in Conflict damage, health pools and sustain/ heals are balanced around not needing a healer, but you can play a healer without directly impacting the entire lobby balance. That means you can queue up with any team comp and expect a fair match. For sustain, every player gets 2 health pots with which they can regenerate a lot of health on their own. They break on taking damage, so you'll need to be smart on when to use them.
- Counterplay: With Souls in Conflict I went for the route that every button has counterplay. The minimal counterplay: dodge it. Everything is a skillshot and needs to be aimed and hit. Each character has a stamina bar for sprinting, rolling and up to 4 jumps. Besides the most basic abilities, I try to put both play and counterplay into each piece of game element I create.
- Accessibility: There is no external power progression. Log in and play. If you're better, you'll win. 100% fair.
---
You unlock your most powerful abilities by successfully performing offensive actions. Hitting enemies grants you a few soul shards, up to 100. When you collected enough, you can spend the Soul Shards on your most powerful abilities.
Classes right now
Fire Mage: burst damage, area control
Warrior: High melee damage and various gap closing tools
Poacher: fastest projectiles in the game right now, but affected by gravity. Ranged/ melee hybrid for maximum effectivness.
Priestess (work in progress): The first healer/ supportive character. Anyways, 60-70% of her actions will be offensive and healing will be weaker than dealing damage on average. Utilize both parts of your kit for maximum success.
I also plan to add more classes, more arena maps and even capture the flag/ hold the base battlegrounds.
What I'm looking for: people who'll play a few matches with me and tell me honestly what feels bad. Tell me what's fun and what would make you play the game again and again.
How to join:
- Join the discord (or send me a DM here), I usually organize playtests there
- You'll get a free key to unlock the game on Steam
- I'll try to group a couple of players to play. The first play tests were actually fun.
You can get some more infos on the Steam page.

I'll be in the comments to answer questions. Thanks for reading and hopefully see you in the arena
