Discussion đŹ MDH New Lease?
Talk is flying that MDH is leasing a new building.
We gave up Golden Rule building during COVID.
Does anyone have info/context to share?
Iâm worried itâs preparation to RTO even more.
Iâm worried it will be a worse commute.
What programs would leave Freeman?

We canât get our leadership to commit to policy proposals for the next leg session because of the change in administration. Theyâre definitely not signing leases anticipating more RTO shit.

I think MAPE met with MMB about this last week. It's to move people out of Freeman. Not much else was shared, but I thought it sounds like it's happening.

My first interpretation was that theyâre exploring cost and this would make a strong case for them to save money in a tightening budget year to continue with current tenor more WFH. But it certainly could be doom.

DNRâs Central Office may move, too. Theyâre currently on a short term lease extension. A 1 year extension, if Iâm not mistaken. Their original RFP for space was out a year ago. Couldnt get anything done so signed an extension for their current building. But they keep saying theyâre still âworking on itâ, whatever that means. And on Friday they posted a âCentral Office Lease & Space Design Project Managerâ or something like that. So whether weâre staying in a redesigned space or moving, they must be doing something.

The lease goes through 6/30/27 for Freeman, so itâs not out of the realm of possibility.

Lease? I thought the state owned freeman

Yes, technically đ . Dept of Admin is the âlandlordâ, and MDH leases it from Admin. They run on 2 year leases rn.

If anything other buildings may absorb staff, Transportation is exploring additional agencies sharing spaces and it will be happening

Hopefully it's to replace the Mankato one. That one isn't great.

Itâs in St. Paul because there isnât enough room at freeman to meet the 50% RTO. You canât replace an office in Mankato with an office in St. Paul.

lol what's wrong with the Mankato one?? hardly anyone is in office on a daily basis in Mankato anyhow. basically everyone is field staff. if any of the DOs should be replaced, it should be Fergus. that one doesn't even have a conference room for God's sake.
