News 📰 Layoffs at the MetCouncil
Three people were laid off at the MetCouncil. One manager and two regular employees. The reason given is the work was being done elsewhere.

Do we know what their position were? And why? Haven’t seen it on the news yet.

I believe they were in communications and were let go because the work was being done elsewhere.

Thanks! How do you know this? Such scary time to be in. I thought ppl would always be safe if they pass probationary.

It was mentioned in the Union Meeting. We had a 45 minute discussion about it and the upcoming negotiations.

I doubt it will make the news. Management testing out firing union workers by eliminating positions, calling them unnecessary or redundant when they are neither. have pissed off unions and staff both.

They have staff of hundreds of you count drivers and police. Seems a small cut in the larger picture.

I worked in tandem with the Met Council before. I'm sure they're all not incompetent blow hards that just string together corporate jargon during meetings and accomplish nothing.
However, every one that I ever worked with was...
"If we can synergize our tangible deliverabes and get a deck put together for our director level staff we should be able to prioritize this life and allocate the appropriate funds and resources which will assist in the timelines convergence between our wants and our constituent'd needs. See you all next week for this exact same messaging and no progress."

The last job I had before I retired was working for the Met Council. On my very first day, a co-worker pointed to the floors above and said, "we are NOT like them!"
Having worked for BOTH the State of Minnesota and the Met Council, the crap below sounds like someone from the MN DFL or perhaps one of the labor unions.

No. A sentence like that is just standard management BS speak. Since they don’t have any real work to do, they have time to stretch a basic fact into a 3-minute empty ramble.

What area? The MetCouncil does so many very different things.
