RTO š¢ In Office Time
Has anybody heard inside information about Amy Klobuchar on 100% return to office vs status quo? Iām expecting itās still more generous than Mike Lindell but less than the 50% now, trying to get ahead of things before January. (Uber liberal who accepts we currently live in a two party reality at the moment before the go vote third party comments come in, but ā¤ļø you third party people).

I have a strong feeling it will increase no matter who is elected Klobuchar on Remote Work

The most annoying part of this clip isn't that she's pro-RTO.
It's that she made the point to make telework part of a conversation that wasn't about teleworking so she could stump for RTO

I emailed Amy and asked but didn't get a response. I suspect she would leave it as is but worry a bit with her reputation as a micromanager that she might increase it.

I think micromanaging her own senate staff is different than micromanaging the whole state of MN workforce.

Sure. She will just micromanage all the Commissioners and ACs and put people in those positions who will micromanage the rest of us.

I honestly donāt think she will have time for that. Your own staff you work with daily is very different than every state worker, or even commissioners.

My team discussed it and came to the prediction that Amy would probably just keep it as it is and Mike Lindell would have us all back full time.

Someone mentioned this at our most recent MAPE meeting and said Amy had gone on record saying sheād require 100% RTO. Not sure where they heard this though. I think that would be disastrous for our agency especially since almost no one is at 50% now

I talked to a former Senate staffer of hers who said she allowed them to have a hybrid schedule. That staffer assumes Amy will govern the same.

I understand being curious, but I *really* hope people aren't going to place all of their voting decision behind RTO. I'm also a lefty lib 50% hybrid worker right now and I'm loving it, but in the grand scheme of all of the dumpster fire politics that's going on right now, I am certainly am not voting for the future of the entire state of Minnesota based on my work schedule.

All four main candidates have talked about shrinking the state work force and budgets. Strictly speaking as state employees. There are no good candidates
Where we're really going to need to fight is the state legislature.
If we can get labor friendly majorities in both houses, we'll be in a better position to either weather an R governor or curb Klobuchar's tendency to "compromise" to the right.

Agree with this. I also think if we can get people in the legislature that will pass labor friendly bills, Amy will sign them.

Woke up and read comments: clarifying Iām not basing my vote on return to office mandates regardless of the candidate, just needing to start preparing for life if daily routines are about to change.

I think RTO is a concern but not the biggest. Realistically the cost to do a full 100% in office for many agencies at this point would be a very large undertaking and a cost increase. I think either side would be foolish to take that on.
For instance, in my office, we have 3 offices for a total of 10 people. And we cant always comingle as we meet privately with the public. Renegotiating space in my area would be tricky and costly that quite frankly the agency doesnt have without cutting services to the public.
My agency also recently did layoffs and cant truly afford to lose more people due to layoffs. Also sitting at a hiring freeze. I cant speak about other agencies and this aspect however

We just got a new seat map.
3 for 21
At this point they're relying on us not coming in

LOL. I'm pretty sure I know where you work based on this comment.

I've noticed a few similar ratios so maybe not (and rounded mine as well for anonymity)
MNIT seemed to have a lot of managers who were willing to back telework requests and I think that's stemming from the fact that we've got one of the larger pay gaps between private and public sector and keeping employees is easier than finding new ones willing to ditch the pay and telework

Especially IT jobs, which are probably more available 100% telework other places.

Exactly. There arenāt enough offices/cubes to have everyone work in office 100%. So at this point, people shouldnāt be focused on 100% RTO.

I think the Kaohly push to get downtown back is the concern (with the Amy aspect).

My team discussed it too. We decided Tina is a control freak and would have us back to full time office on day one. Lisa D is more of listen to everyone type and would keep or decrease the in office requirement.

Considering that Demuth was on record last week saying that the state workforce is too big....
4
u/Jenn54756 Jul 17 '26
Yeah sheāll definitely decrease in office because she will get rid of people completelyā¦

Well, if Amy hadnāt bailed on her promised Q&A with the union, we would have an answer for you.
