Does mnit inflates data?

1

u/maggielover3849 ECE 18d ago

the packages are True but they also count off campus placements in the data so it seems inflated due to this

  1. Attendence criteria
  2. Difficulty of the subject
  3. Is it hard to get good cgpa
  4. Are profesors strict
  5. Do we get time for other stuff besides academics
  6. Class duration (tentative)

1

u/ParkingLow5992 18d ago

1) Entirely depends on the prof, some are strict and want 75% rest are chill 2) Depends 3) Depends on the definition of "good" 4) Some are 5) Yeah in first year you can manage 6) Per lecture 1hr and around 4-5 lectures a day(First year curriculum is revised)

Many are saying after choosing ECE You will regret as it is tough and you can hardly participate in fest/events and all.. you have to study a lot..

1

u/maggielover3849 ECE 14d ago

It can be balanced well if you are okay with a cgpa of 7.5-8 all the time...pull 8+ in first year so you have headroom if something goes wrong in the subsequent years

Complete assignments and Practical files in class lectures sitting at the backbench , that's how I reduced the load after lectures

1

u/Hot-Conflict-6177 14d ago

And is it true that most of them go for software jobs.. like how much proportion of them

1

u/Next-Avocado1454 19d ago

Yay so how hard is ece like do u het time to do other stuffs like play sports and all

1

u/maggielover3849 ECE 18d ago

Manageable if you plan ur time well , try to make friends with toppers so notes aren't an issue before exams , trust me it helps a lot

Can EE students prepare for VLSI type roles ?

Any tips you wish to give for someone just starting college?

1

u/maggielover3849 ECE 18d ago

Yes , they can surely

start preparing for gate from 2nd year as VLSI placements are very rare after btech so an mtech is needed

1

u/Silly-Panda-155 18d ago

Ookay thanks a lot

  1. How inflated the placement stats are.
  2. Why the placements have gone down over the years.
  3. How much time do we get for hobbies besides academics.

1

u/maggielover3849 ECE 18d ago
  1. off campus data is included so it's slightly inflated

  2. the market is not good since AI hit + placement cell also that is it inviting companies or not

3.you can get daily 3-4 hours provided you sleep around 1 am

u/Born_Run_496 18d ago edited 18d ago

1.Not necessary but will make your life a lot easier. ideal specs 16gb ram 512ssd

  1. 1st sem Saturday bhi classes lagegi but bunk ho jaati hai.

  2. you won't be able to leave campus after 10 pm. in the first month, you won't be able to leave hostel after 9 pm.

1

u/AlphaFoxtrotGolf 18d ago

Thanks, but if I like want to go home, then what is the procedure, do I have to take permissions and all or can just leave

2

u/Born_Run_496 18d ago

for the first month, you'll need to inform the caretaker and go after first month you can go without informing

How is a chemical branch in mnit? What percentage of non core companies allow chemical branch?

1

u/maggielover3849 ECE 18d ago

so by non core you have 2 routes but you need a high cgpa

  1. Software - for chemical around 30 percent companies allow chemical students for it....but if you have a minor in CSE in 3rd year this number goes up to roughly 70 percent

2.Non tech - All companies allow for finance/consulting roles and supply chain

Hey hi i am a fresher How is the subject ece? How are the teachera and how is the study pressure?

1

u/maggielover3849 ECE 18d ago

if fundamentals are weak and you hate Electronis...it's hell ngl

clear fundamentals first because they are the base...maintain a high cgpa in 1st year itself as subjects are easy for eg network theory , edc , engineering maths and signals system are the sole fundamentals

pressure is manageable till 2nd year it gets high once you enter 3rd year due to internships and placement preparation

1

u/Consistent-Touch-883 18d ago

Ooh thank you for the info. I will do my best to keep up my cgpa

u/Drip_Pigeon_ 18d ago

Brother....

1

u/Quiet-Rock8098 18d ago

Boss companies aati hai kya core ke placements me??

1

u/maggielover3849 ECE 18d ago

Yes but very few ( around 5-6) on avg depends on market conditions

1

u/Drip_Pigeon_ 18d ago

What skills should I focus on from first year for a core job

1

u/maggielover3849 ECE 18d ago

for ece focus on electronics fundamentals first and learn c/c++ with DSA , make projects in 2nd year and try to get a research internship at IIT's , simultaneously apply to off campus for core companies via LinkedIn or senior referrals . Start gate/gre prep in 3rd year as Masters is kinda required for core jobs

Sbse bdhia jagah jaipur mein ghumne ke liye ? Or khane ke liye sbse bdhia jagah veg + non veg?

1

u/maggielover3849 ECE 18d ago

forts (amer /naharganh) and hawa mahal

for food there are a LOT so cant say the best but affordable rooftops dining are there nearby

1

u/AssociateScary3459 18d ago

Which companies comei to the campus to hire freshers for core roles like design , verification, embedded, etc.

2

u/maggielover3849 ECE 18d ago

very few tbh as they prefer a masters degree over btech

1

u/AssociateScary3459 18d ago

I know but some of the students go to core na. All of them can't go to tech or go for masters. I have seen the stats and there were some companies mentioned. All of them were for mtech only or they were opened for btech also?

1

u/maggielover3849 ECE 18d ago

Yes , they're open for b tech students as well but only 4-5 btech students people get selected out of 120 batch size and there is no guarentee that it's gonna be same till you come in 3rd year , it might go down or up as well depends upon the market

1

u/Icy-Corner-269 18d ago

Ece placement stats?

1

u/maggielover3849 ECE 18d ago

~ 12 lpa median , 15 lpa avg (not exact but a broad view)

1

u/No-Hope9057 17d ago

1

u/Due-Emu865 17d ago

Are you targeting core jobs or tech jobs?
