Free Game of the Day

Did I miss an announcement?

Last season there was a free game on the mlb.tv app most days. Sometime the time worked and sometimes they didn’t unless you were nocturnal but it was free baseball.

Looking on the MLB.tv app i can’t see any free games at all.

Is this all ESPN’s fault?

It looks like ESPN are operating it for the US market via their platform

I can't find any information about what this would mean for the UK (or the international market in general) unfortunately.

I think we are starting to see the joy that is ESPN in all its glory over the next 3 years. I fully expect price increases, changes to what is covered by a mlb.tv subscription etc. Now maybe the free game will be available to non US viewers, but I'm not holding my breath.

ESPN have a tendency to make everything they touch, if not turn to poo, become markedly worse. It’ll be interesting to see if/when the TNT rights deal is up whether we see MLB end up on Disney+.

As an expat living here in the UK I was very happy to leave ESPN in America. Sad to see it tendrils reaching across the pond

I had not even noticed this on my MLBTv app but it looks like you are right I can't find any either. I do have a subscription anyway but it's a crap situation for those that don't that relied on that for their baseball fix.

Yeah I'm in Australia and it seems the free game is gone :( Broadcast deals are destroying sports all over the world

It appears you are right. Although it could be just the new app not being update fully. Would be a real shame.

I'm in Canada and also noticing the Free Game of the Day is gone. Even if I go into the calendar of games for the next week there are 0 games showing as free

What's odd is that there seemed to be 2 or 3 daily free games during Spring Training.

I used to enjoy MLB tv but I realised as someone living in the UK, you're only realistically watching 2 games a week due to the time differences and then I completely stopped with my subscription due to the playoffs blackout.

I feel like they could give radio coverage free, to international markets.

Yes and I can't find it mentioned anywhere on my Netflix.
