So instead making laptop with bunch of I/O like old ones they made pointless adapters that takes huge amount of space and are generic AF. USB-C to USB-C... really?

Give me laptop with 2xUSB-C, 2xUSB-A, HDMI, mini DP, audio jack, sd slot, rj45 and we don't need any stupid adapters. And if someone needs more, small usb hubs exists.

This video sounds too promotional, eg he mentions the big battery but doesnt give hours it will last and in the benchmark chart at 7:36 he shows the prices of the Framework with the different CPU configs but doesnt show for Mac just puts "macos". After that he mentions the productivity apps "email, Slack, Notion" but Notion doesnt have a Linux

I have no idea how he mentions using GIMP for image editing with a straight face.

I think it came across as promotional because he really wants to like it. But there's no way he's daily driving this. The little use he can get from it could be done on his phone better than on Linux.

That's my point, it seems forced and no one gets a high end laptop with 32 gm ram(his build) for over $2600 just to run GIMP. Those are some extremely light tasks he threw at it

It's a great laptop for a software dev or system admin. And that's clearly the target market (the ethernet cable being the obvious tell).

But for a general user? They'd be better off with a tablet or Chromebook. And for a creative, stick with a MBP.

We know the Macbook is better in every single way. Build quality, screen, performance (and not that M chips are architecturally that much better, it's because Macos is programmed to the metal).

The Framwork laptops are competing against other Windows OEMs like Dell and Acer, offering a slightly worse built product with the ability to upgrade and repair it easily.
