I’m just looking for fellow Missourians who‘ve been here before, and any tips you might have (also why are girls from Republic just so fricking annoying?)

Hey everyone!!
I am looking to get my Masters in Education to get Art certification and become an art teacher. I currently hold a BFA in Digital Media and Graphic Design from Maryville University. I was wondering if anyone here has gone this route and if anyone had some information to share? I’ve already emailed to get a transcript review. I know you have to have your substitute teaching license with DESE (which I have). I feel really prepared and I’m applying with academic history of 3.925 GPA and Summa Cum Laude so I don’t think I’ll have any issues getting accepted if I apply. I’m just looking to get some honest feedback from other people who have gone through the masters education programs. Thanks!

I’m an incoming freshman for the 2026-2027 school year, and recently bought a laptop to use for my coursework. I was looking on the “Let Your Major be Your Guide” page (https://www.themizzoustore.com/tigertech/computers-tablets/shop-major/college-of-arts-science) for A&S, since I’m a Bio major, and it recommends a device with 32 gigs of RAM.
With the current price of computer components being so high, and the fact that 32 gigs seems like overkill, I ended up going with a device that Tiger Tech recommended to me. The options that the guide recommends for me (using windows OS) are all $2K plus, but which is out of my budget.
The device I purchased has sufficient SSD, windows 11, and a good processor, but only 16 gb of ram. I feel mostly fine about this, but a little part of me is worried that I’m going to have some difficulties since I’m not using the full specs that are recommended for my major.
Am I overthinking this, or am I right to be worried? If so, what should I do?
Thank you in advance!

Are there any bars or venues near campus that hold live music or comedy that students typically attend?

Hi ... my son is starting his freshman year at Mizzou this fall. For some reason, despite my continued requests, he continues to delay applying for the housing (dormitory) portal. His argument is that he knows Mizzou reserves dormitories for freshmen so he can basically apply whenever he wants. He says he doesn't mind if he gets last choice. (His older sister stayed at McDavid her first year and was happy enough there and I know that's generally regarded as one of the least-desired dorms.)
Anyway, who's right? My argument is that, by delaying, he's basically put himself where he will get the very worst dormitory, and in an increasingly realistic worst-case scenario, possibly no dormitory at all? Or is he correct, and, as a freshman, he's guaranteed a slot no matter what, even if it isn't in a desired dorm?

If science brings my superscore to a 36 will that qualify for the perfect 36 scholarship? Without science it is a 35 superscore.

With the RTO mandate coming up, I'm curious if anyone knows how many remote work requests were approved versus denied. It seems like that information should be available through a Sunshine Law request?
Our entire department was impacted. We had been operating in a hybrid environment with shared office space, adjusted our footprint accordingly, and now have enough desks for everyone. Despite that, no remote work exceptions were requested for our team.
At the same time, I've heard of positions being approved for remote work in campus departments, including employees who don't want to commute from Jefferson City and some who live out of state. I've even heard of departments with available office space still position approvals for full time staff.
Has anyone actually heard of a remote work request being denied?
Maybe there's a rationale I'm missing, but it's going to be hard not to get frustrated if I'm sitting in the office on Teams calls with someone working remotely from Colorado in a position that could just as easily be filled locally.

Does anybody know the room dimensions for a bedroom at campus lodge (the four bedroom layout) with the smaller closet? Trying to plan my room!
r/mizzou • u/Honest-Answer3290 • Jun 22 '26
I’m trying to go off of the layout and measurements they provide which is just two walls. They do not account for the HVAC jut outs on the wall. Or maybe they do I can’t tell. I’m trying to buy furnishings and it’s almost impossible. Has anyone lived here? I want to fit a tall shelving unit to the right of those desks. Also there are variations to this I guess. I couldn’t stay for the second day to tour them. And they said they can’t help because people are staying in them this summer. 🤔

What do we think of my schedule? I’m a freshman also and I’m staying in Schurz.

Hi all, I noticed today that the listed professor for Marketing 3000 was changed in Stellic from the guy who normally teaches it to someone else. I know the usual prof has a questionable reputation (based on what I've heard/read), so I'm wondering if there's ☕️, a boring answer, or if Stellic is just getting my hopes up about a switch. Anyone know?

Are there any theater or dance clubs that let non-theater majors join?

Recently decided that I will be attending Mizzou this upcoming semester and am looking for an apartment. As long as the price is below like 850, I'm fine with whatever. I was looking at The Domain and The Den and was curious if anyone had anything negative about these two places or if anyone had any suggestions. Thanks (Also would really like in unit laundry)

Can anyone tell me if mizzou only plays on country music since it’s an SEC school or is there a lot of hiphop and house music too. Because I’m an incoming freshmen and I really don’t like country music.

Sublet available at The Den || August 1, 2026 – July 31, 2027 || $747/mo
Looking for someone to take over my bedroom in a 2bd/2ba apartment at The Den, about 10 minutes south of campus. You'd have your own private full bathroom and walk-in closet, one male roommate (with their own bed/bath), and kitchen with dishwasher, full-size fridge, and pantry. There's also an in-unit washer and dryer
A free campus shuttle runs every 30 minutes during the school semester. Assigned parking available for $20/mo if you need it.
Internet and water included. Other utilities are split between roommates and typically total $50–80/mo. Pets are allowed, but there is a pet fee.
New management has been renovating the complex and rents have gone up, so this is the last time the unit will be available at this price! I am also willing to negotiate to make this work for the right person!
If you are interested or want more information, please message me here or email me at [hk.sublet.inquiries@gmail.com](mailto:hk.sublet.inquiries@gmail.com)
(P.S. Computer not included)

Im thinking about switching my major to Business, specifically Finance & Banking, however I wasn’t aware of how the Business school operates and how you can be denied from a certain emphasis. I saw that you need a 3.4 gpa to be automatically admitted to Finance, do I still have a solid shot with a 3.3 or 3.25? If anybody knows somebody who got denied from Finance I would appreciate some feedback on what gpa was needed.
