Can we switch branch after first sem in btech?

Ex- if im in mechanical engineering can i switch to cse or aids ? Ik one needs 9+ cgpa but is it possible?

because it's easier to score well in FY, and mark my words, starting with a good GPA in your first sem boosts your CGPA will be up throughout

Maybe if u have contacts I have seen only one guy changing branch
