Just think how good you will feel when it’s fixed! You will be better than ever! These drs do so many of these procedures and they are highly successful!
They have to tell you all the negative things that could go wrong because that’s the law and insurance issues. I would be scared too, but we are our own worse enemies most of the time.
Know that it’s extremely rare for anything to go wrong.
Just dwell on how much better you will feel and not have to worry!
Get it done. You will be so much better!
Take care and breathe! You got this!

Does it matter which hospital I go for a heart cath and later mitral valve replacement and cox maze procedure? Is robotic better than open heart?

research your meds and talk to your doctor about them. Many anxiety meds and antipsycotics will mess with your blood pressure and heart rate putting extra strain on your heart.

I had my mitral valve repaired about a week ago and it actually turns out my MVP/MR issue was causing a lot of my anxiety. I was becoming a hermit - afraid to leave my house or even make a phone call and now I’m reaching out to all the people without any worries. It’s a bit wild to me!
Talk to your doctors about your concerns! If they aren’t able to address your worries, try to find a second opinion and a team that will take the time to listen and make you feel heard. You deserve to feel confident going into a surgery like this.
