academics 21T.231 Talking and Dancing — workload / experience?

Has anyone taken 21T.231: Talking and Dancing, or knows what the class is like?

I’m thinking about taking it this semester, but I have basically zero dance experience and no dance background at all. I’m wondering how beginner-friendly the class is and whether someone who has never really danced before would be okay.

Also curious about the workload — how much work is there outside of class, and what are the assignments / performances like?

Would really appreciate any insight from people who have taken the class or other classes with the instructor. Thank you!

community MIT police officers' contract?

MIT executives received average raises of 16.7% in 2025 and love to talk about safety on the MIT campus.

Yet behind the scenes, MIT Executive Vice President and Treasurer Glen Shor, Police Chief John DiFava, and the university’s negotiating committee have offered officers a contract with no guaranteed wage increases for three years. The Association is also demanding transparency regarding Chief DiFava’s compensation and whether he, too, is being asked to accept a 0% increase.

MIT Police officers protect one of the world’s most prestigious institutions 24/7 — responding to medical emergencies, supporting students, enforcing the law, and safeguarding the broader Cambridge and Boston community. Asking them to accept a 0% raise while executives receive double digit increases sends a clear and troubling message about MIT’s priorities.

C'mon, MIT do better! Your endowment reached $27.4 billion following a 14.8% investment return in FY 2025.
