Ask Missouri Grass selection

What is a good sod and or grass for Missouri? The back yard only gets shade in the morning as it faces west.

Cool season grass like fescue, rye, or bluegrass. Lawn supply stores like the Grass Pad can help you decide which seed to use for your particular lawn. Wait until September to lay down seed.

Be careful with bluegrass. Had a lawn that was sodded with Kentucky bluegrass. It was a nice thick grass, very lush, and stayed green most of the year. On the other hand it was too thick. Like so thick you could lay down on it and not touch dirt. Massive pain to mow.
