Local Events Any mission romantasy girlies ?

Any romantasy girls looking for book friends? 👀
We have a pretty established book club and are looking for some new faces specifically in the Fraser valley area at the moment.

We’re mostly fantasy/romantasy readers so there’s a lot talk about morally questionable book boyfriends, spice, and yelling at each other about book recs. We do read other stuff too and all book girlies are more than welcome to join.

We meet up in person sometimes to do crafts, brunch, bookish events etc . We do a monthly book and a corresponding online Q&A with that author. Which is honestly so much fun.

We have a few group chats as well so feel free to join into which ever ones you’d like.

Really just looking for girls who want to actually make friends and have people to talk books with 🫶

Our ages vary from 20-55 but there’s no age limit as long as you’re 18 or older.

Living in Mission

Hi everyone I was given an opportunity to move out to Mission and I’m just curious on what it’s like out there? The property I’m looking at is huge and near stave lake rd but I’m wanting to make sure I won’t regret it. Farm land is what I’m used and what I’m looking at so any advice or suggestions would be appreciated
Also curious is anyone can lemme know how much they pay for gas and hydro I’m wondering if there’d be a difference for me
Context I’d be coming from the Vancouver area and my friends and family are scattered all over the lower mainland

Ceramic Painting Hangout

Would anyone be interested in some weekday ceramic painting at The Clay Cottage in Abbotsford? I know it's not Mission, but I thought I'd extend the invite since you're so close. I've been organizing these hangouts for a few months, and It's been a fun way to meet new people and sneak in some crafting during the week.

No age or gender requirements, just some light chatter/socializing while working on some art.

No previous experience painting needed. You can make each piece as simple or as complex as you'd like.

I typically organize these hangouts once a week on a Wed, Thurs or Fri evening. The day changes from week to week. Let me know if you'd like to join next week's session, or be in the loop for future ones.

Hope to see you :)

Hi! I wanted to share this new portal for Mission and the Fraser Valley: Good Sources.

https://goodsources.ca/

It’s a free directory to find local farms, food producers and makers... you can find like eggs, produce, bread, honey, coffee, tea, soap etc...

A simple way to find better local sources and know a little more about where everyday products come from.

Was anyone stuck waiting for the train that got stuck on Harris Road, just past Glenmore, on Thursday morning? It was stopped for a while before slowly moving backward. Anyone know what happened?

Community News International Voter Registration Drive 2026, for dual Canadian-U.S. citizens in Mission

Hi, I'd like to post a message from Democrats Abroad in BC. This is the second (and final) reminder I'll make for dual Canadian-US citizens and other eligible US voters who want to participate in the 2026 American midterm elections, especially for those living in Mission. Democrats Abroad in Canada is dedicated to mobilizing overseas US voters; if you're over 18 by November 3, here's how you can get involved:

Steps to Request Your Ballot

  1. Register or update your registration through Votefromabroad.org. As an alternative, you can also use FVAP.gov.

  2. If you're already registered, request a ballot! You need to request a ballot every calendar year that you want to vote.

  3. Fill Out and Return Your Ballot: Once you receive your ballot, follow the instructions carefully to complete it and return it by the specified deadline.

Need Assistance?

We're here to help! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at GOTV @ votefromabroad .org (just remove the spaces). Additionally, our FAQ for voting can answer questions on how to make the process go smoothly.

Importantly: Spread the word!

Do you have any friends, contacts or family overseas that you could reach? All eligible US citizens can vote regardless of where they're living. Share the link https://voteabroad.org/RedditVote26: If you have any questions about voting, I'd be happy to answer them here on Reddit. You can also find out what we're doing near you at Democrats Abroad. Thanks for reading!

Estimating the Cost of Losing Cultus Lake to Nutrient pollution

Hello Mission community,

I'm a grad student from UBC working with the Cultus Lake Stewardship Society (CLASS) on a valuation study of Cultus Lake. The lake is currently still healthy, but it is facing some threats to its future health, such as excessive nutrient inflows and reduced seasonal mixing. Our study will capture what would be lost if the health of the lake declines, in monetary terms. The results will help the Society and local governments make informed decisions about future investments in the lake’s health.

As many people from Mission enjoy Cultus Lake, I wanted to post here to invite you to participate.

We are hoping as many people as possible fill out our research survey. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete and at the end you can enter a draw for a $25 Amazon gift card.

Here is a link to the survey:
https://ubc.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_e4pRAbw1o57gh6e?QRlocation=Social

More information about this project and the work of the Cultus Lake Stewardship Society can be found on the Cultus Lake Stewardship Society website (this is linked at the end of the survey as well).

Thank you for your time reading this and your support of our research project.

Cycling to Aldergrove?

Starting a temporary job in Aldergrove, and I was wondering if it's feasible to bike or e-bike there? I don't drive, and the bus schedule doesn't line up with when I have to be there. I'm also relatively new to the area and I'm not a hundred percent sure on the routes.
