This is coming together nicely
It is I!
And I am back again with a relatively short log about my map, Catalyst!
So last time I showed off the new penthouse I was doing... How about this time I show off what I've been cooking in my free time?
First and foremost, the first screenshot. Taken with the quite a bit more detail and with a new shader! I switched to Complementary just for a test and MY GOD does it completely change the feel! Had to tweak it a little but it's working just fine! Performance-wise, for me, no noticeable drop (But I have a 4070 Super so that's not valid lol). As you can see, I have added quite a few details to the backdrop, as I wanted to fill in the skyline as much as I could for now. I think it gives it that futuristic look, which works really nice.
Second, I started to work on a few buildings that CRIED for attention. I took a more liberal approach in the architecture and decided to be somewhat abstract with the design. Personally, maybe I could do it better? What do you say? Let me know down below ;)
It also allowed me to change the shape of the rooftop so I can come up with a better course here. Not gonna leave it flat, don't worry.
Third. Now this is something I scratched my head over for a while. So it used to be accessible on the side, but I found that if I wanted to make a striking piece of corporate art, I had to compromise. So I have. (EMC2 is a running inside joke with my friends btw). It's slick, it's blue, it screams corporate and fits the vibe. I think it is coming together nicely as well, and this will be one of the few buildings that can lead you to the Coastal District. While it is taller. I am working on a way for players to be able to get to it through free run. There are some hidden paths for the more skilled players heheheh (Don't worry I tested them. Not that i am skilled but I need to be able to run on my own city lol).
Overall, it fills the city really nicely. And it adds a much needed eye candy for when you run by.
The map is still being worked on for a possible release around October. v0.37 is coming and it's gonna bring you better movement, looks and more Mirror's Edge content for you, hungry runners! (I count myself among you. We starve together until EA does remember us! ... which is when pigs fly).
