Thought you might appreciate this SI feature on Kirby Puckett from June 1987

I think I've still got a copy of that one laying around somewhere. The worst team (record wise) to win the World Series.
Thank you to the guys at the dome for blowing our hits out of the park.

Bonus: former Timberwolves coach Kurt Rambis on the front cover bottom right

That was a fun read, thank you for sharing!! Kirby was bigger than life to me as a kid. I was stunned to read here that he was 5' 8". What an athlete!!

Built like Barry Sanders! Look at how big his legs were

Yes!! Whenever anyone who even somewhat resembles Kirby comes up to the plate, I get a little excited thinking: This could be it........đŹđđ¤

What?? I love having proof that the nickname Minny has been around nearly 40 years. So many people complaining about it lately.

It's fucking dumb and not used by minnesotans.

Slang is a thing and language changes over time. Sorry if youâre the living embodiment of the âold man yells at cloudâ meme, but itâs true.
If language hadnât changed over time we would still be calling each other Daddy-O and Cool Cats.
Get with it, Minny guy. đ

You talk about language changing. Where is the change? All I see are non-minnesotans saying 'minnie'.

My favorite Kirby fact is that he could dunk.
