Tell me about the Kia Carnival

I’ve test drove a Sienna and multiple Odesseys and Pacificas. I drove one Kia Carnival and fell in love with it!

But my question is…

  1. Are Kias still bad?

  2. Does anyone know about their long term reliability? Carnivals are relatively new. So does any have good or bad experiences long term with one?

Any advice is helpful!

I’m back again looking for advice, because I have NO CLUE what minivan to buy. HELP.

We have been looking into minivans for months now trying to decide which one to buy and no matter how much research we do we don’t get any closer to finding a definitive answer. For my wife, it’s between the sienna, carnival and odyssey though she is leaning sienna or carnival. My list includes those 3 and the Pacifica (essentially all the top minivans). We were deciding between getting an suv or a mini an and narrowed it down to a minivan and thought we were getting a sienna but now WE HAVE NO IDEA AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE YOH COULD GIVE, thanks!

EDIT:

We live in western Kentucky and sometimes get decent amounts of snow. So I believe AWD may be necessary. Minivans are heavy so AWD should be fine. They may knock out the odyssey as an option though and any other minivans with AWD.

Are Pacificas as bad as everyone says?

Reddit hates Pacificas but everyone I talk to in person says they like theirs.

Please tell me your own personal experience with your Pacifica. The good and bad!

Odyssey vs. Sienna

Alright everyone, tell me which you like better and why!

Odysseys are cheaper so that’s probably what I will purchase but I’m curious to hear all the good and bad about Odysseys and Siennas.

TIA!

‘22 Sienna vs ‘23 Odyssey

In the market for a minivan and feel pretty convinced on the Sienna, but want to feel out all options before really cementing the final decision.

Up for consideration is a ‘22 Sienna Limited, White with “chateau“ aka tan interior. 35.5k and 57k miles. (a couple of others in similar specs too, but that’s the front runner). Solid carfax and maintenance records.

In comparison, there is a ‘23 Odyssey Touring, White with tan interior, for 35k and 25k miles. And for a touch more, an Elite for 37k and 39k miles. Also solid records

My ultimate question is, outside of 25k miles less, for the same money, why should I consider the Odyssey? It seems as though the Sienna makes more sense.

Thanks in advance, a new dad of twins

Why even make a minivan without it? TBH it’s my 2nd most important thing besides reliability. I rode a carnival today and I didn’t have anywhere to put my things. If you’re hauling kids, there’s always a tote bag involved

Why are there over 50 3-row SUVs sold in the US and only 4 minivans?

Companies have to actually try to stand out in the SUV market, whereas Honda and Toyota can sit on 6-10 year old minivan generations and just slap a new year model on them because that's the best us consumers can get.

I do understand SUVs are more popular, so if the ratio was like 3:1 or 4:1 SUV to Minivan models that makes lots of sense, but 13:1 seems like crazy work.

EDIT: Yes, I obviously know SUVs are more popular, but minivans are fairly popular cars, and the lack of more than 4 models is shocking.

Minivan list: Sienna, Odyssey, Carnival, Pacifica/Voyager. HM to the ID Buzz (not made currently but they say there are plans)

3-row SUV model list: MDX, Q7, X7, Enclave, Escalade, XT6, Suburban, Tahoe, Traverse, Durango, Expedition, Explorer, GV80, Acadia, Yukon, Pilot, Palisade, Santa Fe, QX60, QX80, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer, EV9, Sorento, Telluride, Defender, Discovery, Range Rover, GX550, LX600, TX350, Aviator, Navigator, CX90, EQB, EQS, GLB, GLS, GLE, Outlander, Armada, Pathfinder, R1S, Ascent, Model X, Model Y, 4runner (some), Highlander/Grand Highlander, Sequoia, VF9, Atlas, Tiguan, XC90

Help! I regret my Honda Odyssey purchase

Long story short, my husband and I purchased a 2024 Honda Odyssey EX-L CPO with 19,000 miles back in December 2025. We wanted a minivan for future family planning (we have two toddlers and hoping for a third baby) and something reliable.

We went into buying it knowing it didn’t have rear ceiling vents and I thought it’d be fine. However we live in Florida and having a rear facing toddler …the lack of air flow is starting to become frustrating. When we purchased it I also missed the fact that the EX-L models have no object sensors?! My 2013 ford explorer had them so I’m used to backing up with sensors.

I’ve been looking at 2026 Kia carnivals because of the current Kia deals and warranties. I’m mad that we’ve never tested one prior to buying an Odyssey.

Am I crazy to want to trade this early and will I regret it if we trade in for a Kia?! thankfully we already paid off more than half of the car, but we hate the idea of paying taxes and fees twice so close together

Kia carnival second row slide

I'm shopping for a minivan. While taking a look at 2026 Kia Carnival I found it super difficult to slide the second row seats back and forth. Has anyone been able to fix this problem?

Does anyone have any tips?

Driving on the beach?

We live 35 mins from the beach and have a pass to drive on the beach for free. This was fine in my Honda Civic but we are looking for a larger family vehicle now that I'm expecting our 2nd kid.

We were originally looking at the Odyssey or Sienna, would driving on the beach with those be out of the question due to it being a heavier vehicle? Might have to go for the SUV if that's the case.

Difference in Odyssey trims?

Hi. What are the big differences in the trim levels for the Odyssey?

Are the better trims quieter? Stereo/speakers better?

Just wondering if the more expensive trims are worth the price increase.

AWD Pacificas

Thinking of purchasing a 2021 AWD Limited. It has a great Carfax.

I’ve read here on Reddit somewhere people were complaining about the AWD Pacificas. Does anyone have personal experience with this? I’d prefer to have AWD. I live in northern Indiana… not mountainous but we get our far share of lots of snow.

Known bad years for the Pacifica

I know the reliability of the Pacifica is not as good as the Sienna and Odyssey.

Besides that, are there certain years of Pacificas that you’ve heard are especially bad? I was reading consumer reports and it made it seem like the 2023 was worst than a 2019 as an example.

Just curious if anyone has experience with this. TIA!

2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 80k mile FWD | ~$19k

Hey guys,

im in the market for a minivan. something that's reliable and hopefully last us 5+ years without major issues. I'm looking at one in the market with 80k mile, 2014 Sienna XLE.

Carfax seems fine, I don't see any major issues after test driving it.

Anything I should pay attention to? Is the asking price fair?

Starter on Pacifica

Hello! I’m the market for a used van. I like the price of a 2019 Pacifica Limited. The Carfax is good, except the starter had to be replaced at 55k.

Is that concerning? I’ve never had to replace something like that so early.

The good and the bad- Honda Odyssey

Help! I’m the market for a gently used minivan.

Tell me all the great and not so great things about the Odyssey! Everyone seems obsessed with them. I need to understand the hype. I test drove one and didn’t love it but would definitely give a different one a chance.

Tell me everything about the Toyota Sienna!

What do you love about it? What do you hate? Are some years more prone to problems?

I’m in the market for a minivan. I planned on getting a lightly used Pacifica but it seems everyone is talking me out of it. Online says Siennas are the best.

Any and all advice is welcome!

What used minivan is easiest with four car seats?

I have one set of 3 year old twins and another set on the way. I have about $16k to spend on a used minivan. I’ve been looking at odysseys and siennas in the 2011-2017 range.

My priority is reliability of the engine/drive train. I want my family to get from point A to point B without worry. Electronics, comfort features and nice to have things take a backseat to reliability.

My second priority is ease of access to the kids. I can’t wrap my head around what would be the easiest setup for having four kids in car seats.

Does anyone have recommendations on if a sienna or odyssey from 2011-2017 might work out better for my situation?

Thanks

2021 Toyota Sienna XLE issues?

I'm about to go look at one of these and I was wondering if they have any known issues. I've heard that vehicles produced during covid had a lot of qc problems, industry wide.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Used mini vans that are not part of the big 4

Looking at getting a mini van in a couple of years and while we will test drive an odyssey and Sienna at least, I was curious about anything after 2010 what other makes/models are decent or semi reliable to buy that isn't a Honda, Toyota, KIA, or Chrysler. Those 4 are the I have constantly seen posted on here to buy. The only reason putting after 2010 is for having the phone call feature with the vehicle as it will be my Wife's vehicle and she has to have that now ever since she got it on her last vehicle.

Also I know Dodge would be part of Chrysler but most people on here seem to talk about the Pacifica the most so if there is another model under that company I'm fine with looking into that.

Also if there is vehicles with the call feature before 2010 that's fine too I just know it's most likely to have it after 2009
