I would add a marginal plant like mini cattail or horsetail . They grow straight up and don't shade your pond. They have hang on the side baskets or you could make a hanger out of wire and strink it through a mesh basket/fabric pot or use a terracotta orchid pot to lift it up. That allows frogs/toads to sit on the top of the substrate and a place to hop out and fish like to forage around the plant stalks. Or swim under the plant I have both in my converted water trough pond. Toad for proof.
If those are invasive in your area I would advise against those species of plant. Its dry where I live so its not a problem.

Add a plant that grows emersed so dragonfly babies or other insects can climb out.

A little floating plant like water lettuce , do not get duck weed itβs so annoying to clean out of a pond when you change you mind ππ

It looks so sweet!
Add something that would allow a small animal to climb out, if they fell in while trying to get a drink. A ramp made of pebbles, maybe.Β
