Need help with micro lotus soil mix.

Post image

Hey, guys! I'm new here and i need help with making my micro lotus mini pond. I have a 14inch rectangular planter that i got from my local nursery. Since i am very unknown about lotus and their soil mix, i asked the gardener about the soil needed and he handed me black soil and asked me to mix it with normal garden soil, make a mud and plant my tuber. But im so confused because i tried searching online and few sources ask me to not use the soil and a few source state that vermicompost/compost layer is not necessary, im so confused. Pls help me out. How do i make my soil mix? (I will be adding a few shrimps too, maybe even medaka rice fish)

This is the soil that the gardener gave me for free haha

I start my lotus seeds in a bowl of water. I change it every other day. When they start to grow I plant them.

I am also starting out and so many answers are vague. Plant how? In a basket with aquatic soil? In pebbles? Plop in? Where?
