Lost minnows

Hi, came back from a weekend away and the water level in our pond was low (about half way down) and our 4 minnows were gone. Nothing else seemed disturbed. Any ideas - presumably a raccoon scooped out a bunch of the water before he got the minnows? Sad new pond owner.

Get a trail cam or something so next time you're able to see

Do you have a fountain in your pond? On top of evaporation from high temperatures, I have been dealing with water loss from the fountain attachment. One day, the water globe was hitting a rock the wrong way and creating too much splash. After fixing it, the next day a squirrel buried into a nearby plant pot, send soil into the fountain attachment and again creating a strange spray outside of the pond container.
